Between preparing for the return of students, welcoming new families, answering questions, and keeping everything running behind the scenes, our office ladies took a little mid-week break to have some fun and paint some pottery together.
Their work often goes unnoticed, but it makes a tremendous difference every single day. Thank you for serving our students, families, and staff with joy and excellence.
Help us give these three incredible ladies (Mrs. Spurlock, Mrs. Sellers, and Mrs. Gilbert) a well-deserved shoutout in the comments! π¦π

One of the things we love most about LCA is that weβre more than a school, weβre a community. It was such a joy to see new and returning families reconnecting, students making new friends, and everyone simply enjoying time together before the school year begins.
A huge thank you to our amazing Parent Teacher Fellowship for creating such a fun and welcoming evening. We couldnβt do events like this without you!

π Please join us in welcoming the Swygart family to Lighthouse Christian Academy! ππ
Chris and Brittany, along with their children Adalyn and Archie, are joining the LCA family this year! The two met while attending a Christian high school in Fort Wayne, began dating during their senior year, both graduated from Purdue University, and celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary this past May. They moved to Bloomington in 2021 when Chris accepted an engineering position at Cook Medical. Brittany works part-time as a registered dietitian and is grateful to spend much of her time at home with their children. The Swygart family attends Bloomington Bible Church.
Adalyn will be starting Preschool this fall, and her little brother, Archie (18 months), is already cheering her on as a future Lion! Both children inherited their mom's red hair, and as a family they enjoy spending time outdoors at their home in rural Owen County.
When asked what they're most excited about, they shared:
"When Chris and I first toured Lighthouse, it made us very nostalgic for the Christian high school where we met. We are thankful and excited Adalyn will be in a Christ-centered academic environment as she begins school, as we both value our own Christian school education experience."
We're so thankful God has led the Swygart family to Lighthouse and can't wait to see how He works in and through their family in the years ahead!

Cameron and Shelby, along with their sons Nash, Lex, and Lock, are joining the LCA community this year! Lifelong residents of the Spencer and Ellettsville area, Cameron works as an electrician, while Shelby stepped away from a 10-year career in Learning & Development at Cook Medical to focus on raising their family. Today, she runs a sourdough microbakery and shares the Gospel and Bible studies online. The Walls family has attended Embassy Church since 2021.
Here's a little about their boys:
π Nash (12) is a football-loving middle schooler with an old soul, a great sense of humor, and a natural gift for leadership. He loves meaningful conversations and strives to be a light for Christ wherever he goes.
π Lex (8) will be joining 3rd grade at LCA! He's energetic, basketball-obsessed, loves to read, asks lots of questions, and has never met a stranger. We have no doubt he'll make friends quickly!
β½ Lock (4) will be starting Pre-K this fall. As the youngest of three boys, he's always ready to run, jump, wrestle, and keep up with his big brothers. One minute he'll tackle youβthe next he'll want a hug!
When asked what they're most excited about, they shared:
"Building a life centered around Christian community is new to us as we came to know Christ as adults. After a couple years of homeschooling, we're ecstatic to add LCA as another building block to surrounding our family and children with those pursuing Christ (and a wonderful education!). We can't wait to meet everyone and get involved."
We're so thankful God has led the Walls family to Lighthouse and are excited to walk alongside them as they grow in faith, friendship, and learning.
