On August 14, our New Horizon Academy preschoolers of Bloomington Minnesota Dr graduates crossed the “bridge” into kindergarten!

We celebrated this special milestone with songs like “Thank You for All You’ve Done” with sign language, “Kindergarten, Here I Come!”, and “We’re Going to Graduate!” 🎶

Our room was filled with proud families and friends cheering on our graduates. Some of our children have been with us since they were babies, making so many special memories along the way.

As they head to kindergarten, they will carry with them the love, lessons, friendships, and memories they made at New Horizon Academy.

A BIG thank you to Ms. Tina, Ms. Cora, Ms. Jasmine, Ms. Madison, and Ms. Amira for helping our graduates learn, grow, and prepare for their next big adventure!

Today we had a splashing good time during our in-house field trip with Foss Swim School! We were so excited to meet their friendly swim mascot, Cheeks! 🐟

Our swim instructors taught us important water safety rules in a fun and engaging way. We learned that we should always wait for a grown-up before going near or into any water..even the bathtub! We also practiced our "pancake float," where we lay on our backs with our tummies up to help us stay safe in the water.

We discovered that some swimsuit colors are easier to see than others. Bright colors like orange, pink, yellow, and red are much easier to spot, while blue and green can be harder to see in the water.

We loved answering questions, pretending to float like pancakes, and cheering each other on. We had so much fun learning about swim safety.

Kelley from Dentistry for Children and Adolescents came and talked with the kids about how to keep our teeth healthy, reading a book about healthy snacks, and showing us with Bob the dinosaur all the tools she using at the dentist office. Today we welcomed officer Desmond and his furry officer Dunkin! They came and talked with our preschoolers about what they do and some of the equipment they carry on their uniform. Our amazing chef, Ms. Terress, prepares delicious, healthy meals that help our bodies grow strong and our brains get ready to learn! 🍎🥦✨

We enjoy a variety of nutritious foods like whole grains, colorful fruits and veggies, and protein for energy, plus milk alternatives to keep us fueled throughout the day.

At mealtime, we practice something special called combination serving, where children scoop and choose how much food they’d like all by themselves. It’s like being a mini chef! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

This helps build independence, decision-making skills, and teaches important habits like sharing, responsibility, and listening, skills that support success in school and beyond.

Healthy meals + hands-on learning = happy tummies, sharp minds, and lots of fun every day! 💛
