Building leadership, teamwork, and connection.
Our students in the Dominican Republic worked alongside a local community to help build a home, putting their hands-on skills, organization, and leadership into practice while also improving their Spanish through real-life experiences. 🌎✨

We’re proud to celebrate one of our early-career undergraduates, Srikar Vaasan, who presented his research on April 17 as part of the Hutton Honors Early Research Opportunities program.
Srikar shared his work on a collaborative digital humanities project led by Professor Melissa Dinverno that maps Lorca-related archives around the world.
Congratulations to Srikar on his poster presentation and on contributing to this exciting international research initiative!

Our ¡Together we are América! campaign celebrates the creative, transformative power of multilingualism this IU Day. Inspired by Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Bad Bunny’s bold vision, we are championing Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan as global languages that provide our students engagement with culture, art, migration, linguistics, media, and much more. Our department is a student-centered space for critical inquiry. The aim of our scholarship and teaching is to discover heritage, build futures, create dialogues, break barriers, and cross borders. Help us maintain the many stories and voices alive from archives to playlists by supporting our mission and our department.
