This past Thursday, AHS had the great privilege of hosting Seth Jones, president of the Defense and Security Department at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The discussion covered a range of topics, notably defense strategy and modern great power competition. As our reading series this semester focused on his book The American Edge, this was an especially rewarding event with a high turn out and was the final event of our speaker series for the school year. We thank Seth Jones for making his first trip to Bloomington to share his expertise with us, and we thank our co-faculty advisor Prof. Zachary Constantino for moderating and all those who attended this event. We look forward to seeing you all this Thursday for our weekly discussion!

Last Thursday, we had the privilege of hosting Richard Fontaine, CEO of the Center for a New American Security, for a timely conversation on the evolving landscape of American foreign policy. Drawing on his experience at the National Security Council and as a foreign policy advisor to Senator John McCain, Mr. Fontaine offered incredible insights into today’s global challenges and opportunities.

The discussion was expertly moderated by John Ciorciari, Dean of the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and was elevated by thoughtful, engaging questions from our audience members. Thank you to the 100+ attendees who joined us and helped make this such a dynamic and impactful event. We’re grateful for your curiosity and participation and look forward to seeing you next semester!

Thank you to the PPE Minor and Apgar Foundation, the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and our Faculty Advisor Dr. John Karaagac for supporting this event.
