"Today, I got to visit one of my former students, Mubina and her Father, at her graduation. I was her 7th and 8th grade science teacher at a charter school in Minneapolis. The reason this graduation is very special to me is that in 2019, Mubina’s mother passed away. I attended the funeral and remembered how difficult it was for her and the family at that time. But today, I’m very glad to celebrate her success because, despite the trials and tribulations she has gone through, she has grown and succeeded in overcoming challenges and has a bright future. This is one of the reasons I became an educator: to help people become successful. Mubina and her father have done a great job. She has a supportive family and community, and I’m very proud of her academic success. Congratulations, Mubina! We are all very proud of you, and this is another lesson: no matter what challenges we may face, as long as we work hard, we can overcome anything.
