🔬 Neuroblastoma & Surgery: What to Know 🏥

Surgery plays a key role in diagnosing and treating neuroblastoma.

𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗽𝘀𝘆: Before treatment, doctors may perform a surgical biopsy to examine the tumor. For abdominal tumors, a laparoscope (a tiny camera) helps guide the process.

𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Surgeons aim to remove as much of the tumor as possible. In some cases, removing the tumor completely can lead to a cure. When tumors are large or wrapped around blood vessels, chemotherapy may shrink them before surgery.

Every step is taken with care, but like any surgery, there are potential risks, including reactions to anesthesia, bleeding, or organ damage.
