We’ve been quiet it has been a crazy busy summer and the fall is just as busy. But when you get messages like this from the parents that we work with it makes the crazy hours the long drives the late nights and early mornings totally worth it.
We adopt each on of these families into our own family and we hope we can have an impact on these kids not just in the show ring but in life as well.

They’re never too young to start. This is my son he’s 17 months old and working hard to have his own goat for the fair. Are we working to win nope. We are working to learn the lessons of life, hard work, and caring about animals. We get knocked down, but we get right back up! This is what a livestock family looks like.

Good Saturday morning here's our tip. There are a lot of sales going on right now, if you haven't got your critters yet, or are just starting to get them spring clean the barn!!
Go out and get those pens ready, get the wash area all cleaned up be prepared for those animals to come home. Just like spring cleaning the house it can make your work environment fresh it makes you excited to go to the barn. You don't have to have a million dollar facility to win. You have to have a place to work safely, animals need fresh clean pens, bedding feed area, water area. Animals will grow better, they will feel better about being worked.

One of the awesome additions to KALS as we do our relaunch is our sweet gear on our website. We offer everything from shirts and hats to stickers and bags. The money that is raised from the sale of these items is going in a fund for our Heifers for Hope program.

As we stated a few years ago KALS was built to help kids reach their goals, while we are livestock focused that is not the only place we have 'coached' and supported our kiddos. It is important on this journey that our kids have the support and encouragement to chase whatever their dreams.

One young lady we worked with several years ago was not only a talented showman, but she had been a gymnast for many years. As she reached late junior high she was meeting some physical/mental limits that were hold her back. She had one goal - she wanted to be a high school gymnast. With the help of her long time gymnastics coach we worked a plan to help build her stamina and clear her mind to help her reach her goals she was able to compete multiple years on her high school team and I was along side her for that journey.

That being said the Heifers for Hope concept is to help build a program to provide a livestock exhibition opportunity to youth that wouldn't other wise have it. We have dreams/goals of a facility to house these animals as well as a sustainable program to manage and teach these youth. Allowing them the ability to get the benefits of a livestock project without worry of expense, where to house, or how to swing the ins and outs of the project.
