Shooting Star Dance Center

Dear Shooting Star Family,


It is with a heavy heart that I need to inform you that Shooting Star will be closing its doors after the recital on June 20th. Please know this decision does not come lightly and is the result of a variety of factors, the biggest being that my family will be relocating at the end of June to South Carolina to be nearer to family. I did search for the last six months, up until last week, for someone to take over, but unfortunately, for one reason or another, none of them worked out.



I have appreciated everyone who has supported us over the years. Every post, every share, every class taken, I appreciate from the bottom of my heart. My staff and I have tried our absolute best to provide a good experience to every dancer who has walked through our doors. While the studio may not have always been the right fit, I hope that many have fond memories of their time with us, and you, our dance family, are the reason we were able to serve our community for more than a decade.



You have seen me through the good times and the bad, and I will never forget the grace you showed during those hard times and the community we had. I will treasure all the moments over the years, every small victory, every smile, all the moments we shared both in and out of the classroom. Those memories make this incredibly difficult time much easier.



I want to thank Miss Nicole, Harlan, Miss Grace, Miss Michelle, and Miss Brianna for their support and for being amazing staff over the years. Thank you, Miss Cheryl and staff from the Bloomfield Public Library for all the creativity and fun we had during our Storytime Boogies. Thank you to Demarest, Brookdale and Lacordaire for having us for enrichment time and time again. Thank you to Pastor Ruth and the Church on the Green for welcoming us into their building this year when we needed a new home. Thank you to my family, who so graciously understood when the studio pulled me away from moments with them. Thank you to Miss Roseanna, who, without her guidance, this would have never happened. Lastly and most importantly, thank you to all our families, especially our students who have believed in the studio, supported the studio, and were just plain amazing. There are so many others that I have probably missed, but please know I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Springtime is one of our favorites for props because the beanie babies come out. Beanie babies are mostly for imaginative play but we do get some fine motor work when we manipulate them, hand-eye coordination practice when we toss and catch them and practice shifting our weight from side to side when we rock them. But imaginative play takes center stage wehn our dancers create stories around what their babies are doing and have them interact with one another. It is a special thing to watch!

We love PJ weeks!

Starting in 2019 we introduced sibling week! We have so many friends that hang and play in our waiting room and we want to give them a chance to dance as well. We invite all siblings to join us the last week of classes to dance alongside our dancers. It is a week not to be missed!
