Talk About Birth Supporting expectant families
with Childbirth Education/Doula Services since 2011. South-Central Iowa and North-Central Missouri
"Doulas help people out!"

Childbirth Education:
I offer an 8-10 week series to prepare expectant parents for pregnancy, labor, delivery, and beyond. Knowledge diminishes fear. Doula Services:
A doula provides continuous support throughout labor and birth. She believes in you and your ability to give birth to your baby, and provides the encouragement and support you need. I am honored to serve couples throughout pregnancy,

labor and delivery, offering physical, emotional, and informational support, suggesting comfort and relaxation techniques, and providing resources to help make the choices that are best for each couple along the way.

How often do you hear this description of pregnancy? (This was posted in a group of birth professionals whose purpose is to educate about placentas and the many possible variations. I have permission to share this.)

"So, a bit of the tale.
Unknown etiology to explain this very anomalous placenta.
Multip. 2nd home waterbirth.
Uneventful pregnancy with a well nourished woman.
No infections, illnesses.
No OTC or prescribed medications.
No diagnosed uterine anomalies.
No frank prenatal bleeding.
Unknown if there was any occult bleeding.
No prenatal ultrasounds.
No hypertension.
Straight forward, quick labor.
Infant born entirely encaul.
Light, old meconium.
No immediate postpartum complications.
Uncomplicated spontaneous expulsion of the placenta, maternal effort only.
No abnormal blood loss.
Uncomplicated postpartum."

This is birth, physiological birth, the way our bodies were designed to do it by the Creator. In most cases, this can and should be the story. If you are someone who had a true emergency, please don't allow yourself to take offense at this post. (If you'd like to discuss your personal situation, you are very welcome to private message me.)

This post is to inspire those who are able to change future pregnancies by altering the way you view pregnancy and maternal care. The midwifery model of care doesn't throw caution to the wind. It keeps a watchful eye and promotes the healthiest possible pregnancies. It supports and nurtures births where moms are respected, protected, cared for. It is a hands-off approach unless the need arises, and, only then, do they tap into a vast knowledge of beneficial interventions.

What state are you in, what's your current temperature, and what's your favorite way to spend a day at home with your littles?

I'll start: Iowa, -11, I'm quilting, and she's playing Barbie post office (filling in while the USPS is taking a day off from delivering mail - sooo happy for them!).

Don't let someone else's agenda force your baby out, if your baby isn't ready to be born. There can be serious repercussions if you begin to accept medical interventions for a system that is already designed to work fine, just as it is. Your body and your baby will work together to determine the right time for your baby to be born. It may be Christmas Eve, or a week after. It will always be a great story to tell in the future! You can politely refuse any suggestions that are not in the best interest of your baby. Breathe, be patient, love your time with family and friends! Merry Christmas!

Oh, this evokes many thoughts and feelings deep within!

LONDON (AP) — Brazilian doctors are reporting the world's first baby born to a woman with a uterus transplanted from a deceased donor. Eleven previous births have used a transplanted womb but from a living donor, usually a relative or friend. Experts said using uteruses from women who have died co...

Oh the times I thought I should get up out of the rocking chair, put you in bed, and go get caught up on everything! But those things are still here, and you are grown and gone. I don't regret a single moment letting you snuggle in and sleep safely and so peacefully in my arms! You will never understand how deeply I have loved you, and always will!
