Memorizing your way through medical school used to work. It doesn't anymore. Medical knowledge doubles every 70 days. It used to double every 10 years. Then 7. Then 5. Now 70 days.
No school can keep up with that by teaching you facts. The ones that produce great doctors teach you something else entirely: how to learn.
At WAUSM, that's called becoming a master adaptive learner. It's the philosophy behind the entire curriculum. And it's a big part of why the first graduating class achieved a 100% residency attainment rate.

"I made friends for life there. Not just in med school, but in the whole community. I feel like it's the safest place I've ever been."
That's the thing about Freeport. Students come for the education and stay for the community.
Milena Ghiday, MD, always knew she wanted to be a doctor. But it was her own experience as a patient, and her passion for making sure women feel truly heard, that led her to Family Medicine.
She's now Dr. Ghiday, a proud member of WAUSM's first ever graduating class.
"WAUSM has made me a stronger individual. Someone I didn't think I ever could be."
Congratulations, Dr. Ghiday. 🎉
Too many med students graduate without mastering this one vital skill. WAUSM students? They start on day one.

Johnathan Dallas, MD, remembers the first time a patient started seizing during simulation lab training. He was the team lead. He froze.
That moment happened in pre-clerkship, so it didn't have to happen in front of his attendings. That's exactly what simulation lab is for.

Nobody arrives at their clinical site unprepared. Not here. Before our students ever step into a hospital rotation, they've already been in the community. Talking to real patients about real concerns.
That's what Dr. Tiadra Dorsett-Johnson makes possible every year. Adjunct faculty and medical director at Lucayan Family Care & Concierge, one of our community partners and observership sites, she opens the door for our students to work with real patients, year after year.
