The Conant community gathered at Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams last night at Corewell Health to show support for fellow Conant student, Vito Gold, who underwent a successful surgery Wednesday morning. Attendees brightened Vitoโ€™s spirits as well as other children spending the night in the hospital by shining flashlights toward their rooms, creating a beautiful light show from the inside. Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams continues nightly at 8 p.m. until December 23. ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

It was a sea of blue under clear skies at this morningโ€™s Conant Cares assembly. The entire school gathered in the gymnasium to celebrate each other. Students gave shout-outs to staff, and staff recognized the caring cubs. Each grade level shared an exciting part of their curriculum, and the ceremony concluded with everyone singing the Conant Cub song. The morning peaked with staff and students spelling out โ€œAllyโ€ on the soccer field, to show that all cubs support each other, while a drone captured the moment! This uplifting experience left everyone feeling grateful for one another and ready to finish the year strong.

A vibrant sea of green and love filled Conant today as the school community came together to celebrate National Kabuki Syndrome Awareness Day in honor of Lucia Santrich (grade 5). Kabuki Syndrome is a rare congenital disorder of genetic origin, affecting multiple parts of the body, with varying symptoms and severity. Kabuki Syndrome affects roughly one in 32,000 births. โ€œLucia is such a ray of sunshine, we believed she should be celebrated!, remarked Luciaโ€™s classroom teacher, Katie Walkenhorst. Together with her classmates, they crafted 800 bookmarks, which were made available for sale, with all proceeds benefiting the National Kabuki Syndrome Organization in Lucia's name.

Luciaโ€™s father, Jose Santrich, expressed gratitude to the fifth-grade students for their compassion and support. โ€œ...Continue to bring love to everyone that you meet - people that are different from you and people that are the same because the love that you give will make its way back.โ€ Lucia herself expressed her joy, stating, โ€œThis is the best day ever!โ€
