We are saddened to share that Irene Egner, Kingswood metalsmithing (jewelry) teacher from 1972–1981 and a favorite of many students, passed away this fall. She started a jewelrymaking class that grew in popularity, becoming the foundation for our current metalsmithing program. Her studio was a creative sanctuary for many students. She guided students from beginning skills—sawing, filing, soldering, and polishing—to designing their own pieces, including work in wax and casting. She will be remembered at reunion and alumni are invited to share memories, photos, and condolences here:

Gallimaufry editors, committee members, and contributors from across the generations— Save the date of June 6, 2026 for a first-ever Gallimaufry gathering during Alumni Reunion Weekend. You can view and share photos, memories and samples of Gallimaufry content by clicking here: https://padlet.com/CKshares/Gallimaufry26

At this event we will remember Christine Goodale, whose vision and mentorship helped shape Gallimaufry into something far more than a publication—a creative home for students across the decades.

With the involvement of Dr. Jeffrey Welch and his ties to Christine’s life and work at Cranbrook, we’ll reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the legacy of Gallimaufry—and the community it created.
