Five members of the class of 2027 were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for their exceptional academic promise:

Semifinalists have the opportunity to continue in the competition for about 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $24 million that will be offered next spring, while Commended Students rank in the top 50,000 nationwide.

Our seniors are literally leaving their mark at The Roeper School! 🎨🚗

Senior parking spots are a popular high school rite of passage, but an impracticality at Roeper. Between our limited parking, adjacency to a public park and hesitation to grant privileges based on age, this seemed like a thing Roeper seniors were not going to experience. But, the class of 2027 proved that creativity and teamwork always win.

Instead of wanting the spots for themselves, they proposed painting spaces for everyone to enjoy!

Seniors, faculty and parents spent the weekend before school pitching in to paint bright, custom designs. Now, anyone pulling into campus gets to experience the sweetness of these beautiful spaces all year long.

A huge thank you to our seniors for combining self-advocacy with selflessness. Proof that when you bring big ideas and shared purpose together, there's no limit to what Roeper students can achieve!

We were honored to have Karen Roeper – daughter of our founders, George and Annemarie Roeper – visit us recently.

Karen spent meaningful time with students – sharing lunch with our Stage IV students and reading to a Stage III class, as well as meeting with Head of School Anne Glass.

Visits like these serve as a beautiful reminder of the Roeper legacy. The foundational values George and Annemarie set in motion – nurturing curiosity, respecting student voice and fostering a deep sense of community – remain at the heart of everything we do today.

Thank you, Karen, for spending time with our students and continuing to enrich the story of our school!

Building the Beloved Community – this school year’s theme inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – starts now!

We kicked off this incredible school year at The Roeper School with R Day, a celebration centered entirely on connection, community and inspiration.

From Lower School and Upper School buddies bonding over games and meaningful discussions to an unforgettable all-school assembly featuring music, senior memories, original poetry and a vivacious Dolly Parton dance tribute – it truly set the tone for the year ahead.

We were also honored to welcome back alumna Emma W**e ’20, who left us with empowering messages about bravery, entering experiences ready to learn and our shared responsibility to keep Roeper a safe and welcoming space.

Here’s to all the moments, big and small, that make the Roeper experience so extraordinary. Let’s make it a fantastic year!

Our English Literature and Writing teacher, Ben Fisher, presented at the International Medieval Congress - University of Leeds in Leeds, England over the summer – the world’s largest gathering of its kind.

Ben shared his paper on "Responsive Education toward Justice," highlighting how hands-on history lessons can help students tackle modern equity and social justice issues.

Among 2,000 global experts, Ben explored new teaching strategies, and medieval digital culture and astronomy. We can’t wait to see these fresh, impactful perspectives come to life in his classroom this year!

This morning, our Bloomfield and Birmingham campuses were bustling as we welcomed back students, families and even a few furry friends🐶

Head of School Anne Glass was there to greet everyone as our academic year officially kicked off!

The Roeper Review, the Roeper Institute’s peer-reviewed journal on giftedness and talent development, features Head of School Anne Glass in its latest “Ask the Expert” Q&A with Editor Don Ambrose.

Anne discusses giftedness, Learning + Wellness, artificial intelligence and the importance of helping students develop their abilities with purpose.

She shares a philosophy about gifted education that has defined Roeper’s mission for the last 85 years: “Education, at its best, is about helping people use their capacities in meaningful and ethical ways and in relationship with others.”
