Tryouts will take place August 10–12 at Bloomfield Hills High School!

📅 Grades 9 & 10: 9–11 a.m.
📅 Grades 11 & 12: 8–10 p.m.

Nine BHHS seniors from band and orchestra took to the stage for one last performance: a series of solos. The concert showcased each student with their respective jazz ensemble, symphony orchestra, or symphony band accompanying them as they each performed a concerto of their choosing. Congratulations to these special musicians:

Also, in an unexpected announcement, Coca-Cola Scholarship winner Kathryn Ho dedicated her Coca-Cola Educator’s Distinction Award to band director, Mr. Alan Posner, thanking him for his support, encouragement, and dedication to his students.

Good luck to our girls flag football team as they head to the Michigan Girls High School Flag Football State Championship for the first time ever on Saturday, May 30 beginning at 11 a.m. at Ford Field🏈 !

This event is FREE for anyone who wants to come support the girls and watch the 15 individual league champions compete for a state championship. The team would love to see students, families, staff, alumni, and community members in the stands cheering on our Black Hawks!

The “Final Four” teams will also be streamed on Sunday, May 31 at approximately 2 p.m. at www.DetroitLions.com/flag

Congratulations to the 12 BHHS grade 12 students who received the Seal of Biliteracy for becoming proficient in English plus another language before graduation. While some students were unable to attend, all recipients will receive the Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma along with a graduation cord.

Way to go, Amber!

We are so proud of Bloomfield Hills Band’s Junior Twirler Amber Spike! On May 16th, she competed in Miss Majorette of Michigan at Monroe High School, taking 1st place in both of her open events. She then competed in costume model, x-strut, and solo in the pageant. Her combined scores earned her a first place in the pagent Amber is now headed to nationals at Notre Dame in July. Congratulations!

Earlier this week, we were delighted to celebrate Hayden Schwartzenfeld as the 2026 Outstanding Graduates from the Detroit News and CATCH. Hayden was honored as the 2026 Detroit Pistons Scholar in the category of journalism. He was recognized for his leadership as one of the editors in chief of our student newspaper, The Hawkeye, as well as his award-winning writing and editorial work. Hayden's commitment to education and community was also noted through his service as the National Honor Society president, dedication to The Friendship Circle and the BHHS Unified program, and as the leader of a tutoring program. Hayden was one of 24 high school seniors to be selected for this prestigious award, which included a nomination, resume, personal essays, academic transcripts, writing samples, and two letters of recommendation.
