Congratulations to Angelica Johnson, Class of 2028, our June BHHS Featured Artist. Angelica’s striking, untitled digital art piece is a deeply personal interpretation of herself and a close friend celebrating at his senior graduation festival. Drawing heavy inspiration from Japanese culture, she frames the scene with vibrant cherry blossom trees to evoke light, warmth, and happiness. Angelica’s character cast a clear reflection in the water, and her friend has no reflection at all. This deliberate choice beautifully symbolizes the transition they are facing: Angelica finishing high school, while her friend moves on to the next chapter in his life. Created during her second digital art class, this piece highlights Angelica’s immense creativity and storytelling ability.
We look forward to watching her talents continue to grow and seeing more of her art in the future.

Congratulations to junior Raegan Bewick for receiving the 2026 Stewart Scholarship in the Visual Arts!

The Stewart Scholarship is awarded to a BHHS student specifically for additional visual arts instruction at approved organizations providing advanced studies. The scholarship was established in 2007 at Lahser High School as a tribute to Norman Stewart, BHS teacher from 1969–2006.

Congratulations to Sarah Raitt, Class of 2027, our May Artist of the Month!

Sarah’s piece, Don’t Feed the Fish, is an incredible mix of pastels, acrylic, and watercolor paints. This artwork began a year ago in her painting class with one fish. It was this year that the painting truly came to life, now featuring two koi and a brilliant spaceship window-inspired background design.

Sarah’s grandmother has a koi pond with fish that are older than she is. She has always admired them and used that memory to create this stunning, comic pop art piece on canvas.

Sarah works in all mediums, and we look forward to seeing her future artwork.

Congratulations to Ruby Jaworski, Class of 2026, our Bloomfield Hills High School April Featured Artist!

Ruby captured this striking image for a photography class assignment titled Generations. Her grandmother was excited to take part in the shoot, and together they came up with the creative idea of having her look through a magnifying glass. Using Lightroom, Ruby edited the image to give the impression that her grandmother is peering through an opening directly at the viewer.

Although this is only Ruby’s second photography class, and she typically enjoys capturing places and objects with vibrant color enhancements, this piece also highlights her impressive talent in portrait photography.

Congratulations to Cyrus Watson, Class of 2028, our Bloomfield Hills High School March Featured Artist!
Cyrus created these incredible clay faces in his first ceramics class, beginning the project somewhat spontaneously. At first, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to create, but as he started shaping the first face, the piece began to tell its own story.

With guidance from his ceramics teacher, Mr. Beauchamp, Cyrus titled the trio “The Faces of Addiction.” Each sculpture represents a different stage: Euphoria, Disassociation, and Dependence. The bold, expressive colors bring each emotion and experience to life, creating a powerful visual statement.

We look forward to seeing more of Cyrus’s creative work in the future!

Our visual artists made a strong showing once again at this year’s Art in the Halls, bringing the energy of the art department straight into the Main Commons. Students shared work across ceramics, digital art, graphic design, jewelry, photography, drawing, and painting, giving the school a glimpse into the range and thoughtfulness of our visual arts program. A great moment to celebrate their talent, creativity, and the depth of work happening in our classrooms every day.
