She said on the podcast that she told the student organizers of the assembly beforehand that she had not experienced much discrimination in high school, “but I can certainly talk about my experience with racism and discrimination in my work campaigning for Palestinian rights.” She claimed the students who planned the event said a shift in topic would be “perfect.”

October 2021. Another DEI failure at Bloomfield Hills Schools.
After the high school chooses homecoming candidates, the adminstration decides at the last minute to cancel homecoming king/queen or any mention of those traditions.
In the aftermath, students harass several LGBTQ+ students during homecoming dance. Administration is notified but it does not stop. The entire homecoming dance is chaotic and full of behavioral problems.
The next week, one student is given a short suspension. Hararssed students complain to administration, but concerns are not heard and swept under the rug.
Several weeks later, a brave student speaks out at the November board meeting. Many more students are disciplined/suspended once the district realized they can’t ignore it anymore.
Where was our Director of Instructional Equity and Title IX Coordinator? Why are harassment and hate incidents not addressed until public outcry?
