We have had a wonderful start to the new school year. The children have settled down nicely and have been enjoying exploring the practical life shelves. These activities, designed to promote concentration, coordination, sense of order and independence serve as a child’s gentle entry point and foundational bridge into the Montessori Environment.

“The exercises of practical life are formative activities, a work of adaptation to the environment. Such adaptation to the environment and efficient functioning therein is the very essence of a useful education." Dr. Montessori

In addition to our Montessori work time, children are also spending time outside, singing, dancing and socializing!

It’s hard to believe that the summer is coming to an end and the school year is around the corner!
We have had a blast playing outside, exploring ocean themed activities, creating arts and crafts, celebrating birthdays, graduation, last days and bidding farewell to our Kindergartners!
We also continued to explore Montessori shelves to keep our skills sharp in between. The kids are excited to get back to our routine next week and can’t wait to explore back to school and fall themed activities!

This experiment helped reinforce proper handwashing!

We ended the month of July by having two water days back to back. The children enjoyed running through water sprinklers, making a make shift water slide and popping water balloons! It was a great way to enjoy the outdoors while keeping cool in the sweltering heat.
We also learned about proper handwashing to keep the germs at bay. Our experiment to show the children how soap keeps the germs away was a big hit and helped reinforce proper handwashing!
We are looking forward to some more Summer Fun next month before we wrap up the Summer session and get ready for the school year!

It was wonderful to be able to spend plenty of time outside and finally enjoy the moderate weather this week. Not only we had plenty of free playtime we also brought some of the learning activities outside. The children learned about the land formations and explored them using sand and water activities.
They also learned the names of the Hawaiian islands and the five Great Lakes. It was a lot of fun to paint them with puffy paint and watch them puff up in the microwave! Now we are bracing up for another heatwave next week!

Since the extreme heat and poor air quality are keeping us inside, the kids beat the heat by churning up some homemade ice cream!
It was a lot of fun to bring out Ms. Safia’s old fashioned ice cream maker and make a batch of vanilla ice cream! The kids were intrigued by the loud sound it made (we had to put it in another room and close the door)😀 and how the ice and salt melted together to help freeze the liquid into the mouth watering ice cream. They enjoyed it with some sugar sprinkles!🍨🧊🍧🍦😋

Happy 4th everyone! We learned about the Independence Day, American flag and the liberty bell of freedom. The children celebrated with crafts, songs and books.
We also enjoyed bubble day and a picnic lunch outside!🇺🇸🗽🔔
