🏈A Night to Remember — Honoring John S. Schwabenton 🏈
On another momentous and pristine Friday night at Larry Clary Field, the Kenston Forest alumni and family came together to honor the late John S. Schwabenton, Class of 1977.
Speeches were given, memories were shared, and the ribbon was officially cut to name the scoreboard in John’s honor. His family, friends, former classmates, and fellow alumni were all present to celebrate a man whose impact on Kenston Forest will be remembered for decades to come.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the donors, former classmates, friends, and supporters who contributed to the new scoreboard and helped make this special tribute to John possible. His name will now stand proudly at Larry Clary Field for generations of Kenston Forest students, athletes, alumni, and families to see.
The 2026 Kenston Forest School football team then took the field and honored John’s legacy in thrilling fashion.
Throughout the night, the Kavs delivered multiple touchdown scores and exciting moments from Junior QB Luke Coleman and Seniors Guido Iddas and Luke VanZijderveld. The offensive line played with tremendous strength and grit, while the defensive unit was stifling all night long.
Coach Kaiser summed up the night by saying, “I loved seeing the older guys and younger guys come together as a team. John Schwabenton was not only a colleague and mentor of mine, he was my friend. I am so happy and honored that we were able to perform this way on the night that we honored him.”
The final score was something no one could have planned.

John’s jersey number during his time at Kenston Forest was #63.
What a night.
What a man.
What a legacy.
John Schwabenton’s impact on Kenston Forest will continue to live on—not only through his name on the scoreboard, but through the students, athletes, families, and alumni who carry the spirit of this school forward.
