Lambda Chi Alpha at Virginia Tech
Our chapter began with it's founding at Virginia Tech as Sigma Omega Tau in October 1958.
Fifteen years later we were chartered as the 232nd chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha on April 28, 1973. We have since initiated over 600 brothers at Virginia Tech and we continue to grow.
I'd like to see more posts here related to something other than brothers passing...let's get together someday soon!
Jonathan Stauffer passed away yesterday, sudden, unexpected, they say it was a heart event, he had recently been sick with pneumonia. No memorials are planned at this point. If you knew John you knew how special he was and how much of an impact he had on the fraternity. RIP brother

Brothers, as you may or may not know some of our family, Chris Lyon and his wife Stephanie, recently welcomed their third daughter into the world. She was born with complications that will require time in the hospital. Below is their story. Please read and keep up with their journey. We love you and will be thinking of you.

Hi Brothers-
By now you have heard the news: Stone Brewery’s new tasting room on Fulton Hill is open, and we’ve arranged for the next Central Virginia Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association to meet there. Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 10 beginning at 5:30 p.m. We’ll be joined by Juliellen Sarver, Stone’s community relations manager, who will give us the down low on the place and all that Stone is planning in Richmond. Should be great fun and another great occasion for catching up with new and old fraternal friends.
Why not call up a few old brothers and ask them to join you? We look forward to seeing you there.
The address is 4300 Williamsburg Avenue, Richmond 23231. The parking lot is next to Fulton Gas Works. There is a pedestrian bridge to reach the company store and tasting room.
Hi Brothers-
Please join us for this year’s kickoff event for the Central Virginia Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association on Wednesday, February 10 at 6 p.m. at Isley Brewing Company in Scott’s Addition. We’ll be joined by a special guest, the Flying Squirrels COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. Anyone who knows (or has even spent five minutes around) Parney knows we are in for a treat. Isley is in Scott’s Addition at 1715 Summit Avenue.
Also, mark your calendars for Thursday, March 10 for a chance to partake of the soon-to-be-opened tasting room at the new Stone Brewing Company’s new facility on Fulton Hill. Stone’s community relations manager Juliellen Sarver will talk to us about Stone’s big plans for Richmond.
And if you really like to make long-term plans, we’ll be heading to The Diamond for a Flying Squirrels game on Thursday, April 14 when Nutzy and the gang take on Altoona. More details on ordering tickets will follow once we get closer to the date. Also in April, the Lambda Chi Alpha Mentoring Program will take place. There will be more information on this event coming out soon, but this was a great event last year that paired Richmond-area alumni with junior and senior undergraduate brothers from our local chapters. Again, more to come on this soon.
We look forward to another year of great events. Please plan to join us, and why not ask a local fraternity brother to join you?
See you at Isley on the 10th.

Brothers! Just wanted to thank Whaley for setting up what i thought was a very smooth officer transition on 12Dec2013. Thank you for providing us with food, and thanks for closing TOTS so we could get it done without interruptions! Thanks to Tim, Larry, Bruce, Scott, and Danny for giving up the greater part of your weekend so we could make this happen. Hopefully we have found a new Hi Pi in Scott Thomas (VT head softball coach) to replace Whaley and allow him to focus more on the Zeta Corp.
the new officers seem up to speed already on what's been going on and i think they have plans to make a big turn around in the coming year...now that we are headed back to a more normal situation. i met with the incoming/outgoing Alpha, Beta, Kappa, and Phi. They plan to initiate 12 associates in January and the next class in the spring.
Now that we have set the stage for the incoming officers, we will keep in better touch with them as the months pass. hope everyone is well and make plans to come to blacksburg, most likely in Mar2014 for Spring Cleanup! The more alumni the less work we have to do and the more downtown time we have to catch up!
