A little piece of Hokie history now has a permanent home 🧡

Just weeks after members of the community signed a Hokie orange beam during the New Business Building groundbreaking, that beam has officially been installed as part of the structure itself.

As construction continues, it's exciting to watch this project take shape and imagine the generations of who will learn, collaborate, and launch their futures within its walls.

Meet Megan Martin '89, a alumna whose Virginia Tech journey proves it's never too late to pursue your goals.

After spending 20 years raising a family and building experience in the accounting field, Megan returned to the classroom to earn her degree. She graduated as the top-ranked accounting student in her class and launched a career that spanned auditing, tax systems consulting, and financial operations!

The lessons she gained at Pamplin extended far beyond technical skills. Through team-based accounting and information systems courses, she learned how to collaborate across generations, listen to different perspectives, and contribute to complex projects, skills that would serve her throughout her career.

Today, Megan continues to support future through scholarship giving, inspired by the encouragement and opportunities she received as a student.

“I have been blessed with much and want to give it forward to open doors to others who need that small amount of assistance.”

Her story is a reminder that success doesn't always follow a traditional timeline. Sometimes the most meaningful accomplishments are the ones you've worked decades to achieve.

Not long ago, Michael Walker was taking Intermediate Financial Accounting. As a graduate student pursuing his M.S. in Accounting & Information Systems - Virginia Tech, he was known to help other Hokies succeed in the same course through peer mentoring and academic support.

By supporting graduate students who serve as peer mentors, Pamplin is creating opportunities for students to learn from those who have recently walked in their shoes. The result is a stronger learning experience for everyone involved.

Michael's experience is one example of the impact made possible through a partnership with Forvis Mazars, which provides scholarship support for graduate students while helping expand academic support for undergraduates.

We're grateful to Forvis Mazars for investing in student success and helping create opportunities that benefit Hokies at every stage of their academic journey.

The future of business is changing. So is the way we teach it.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries, Pamplin faculty are actively exploring how these tools can enhance learning, strengthen classroom experiences, and help students develop the judgment and critical thinking skills that matter most in an AI-enabled world.

Through workshops, collaboration, and ongoing experimentation, our faculty are embracing the same mindset we encourage in our students: stay curious, keep learning, and adapt to change.

It's one example of how continues to operate at the intersection of business and technology, creating an environment where innovation is embedded throughout the student experience.
