Virginia Tech Cultural and Community Centers

Virginia Tech Cultural and Community Centers Through programming and events, we raise cultural awareness and invite the community to learn about and develop an appreciation for cultural differences.

We are here to advocate for and advise our community in creating a safe and inclusive environment. The Intercultural Engagement Center (IEC) is an important component of Virginia Tech’s efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive campus community. The IEC helps to create this environment by providing students, faculty, and staff comfortable space for working, studying, lounging, and socializing. T

he IEC staff design events to bring folks together across difference in order to deepen understanding, develop the capacity for difficult dialogue, and create community. The IEC is also utilized by the campus community for educational programs, exhibits, meetings, and receptions. It features a rotation of artwork and displays from multiple underrepresented communities. The space includes two three-foot rectangle tables, two armchairs, one couch, a television with HDMI and AV hook ups, books, and a resource library.
