Regenerative Medicine Interdisciplinary Graduate Program at Virginia Tech

Regenerative Medicine Interdisciplinary Graduate Program at Virginia Tech Regenerative medicine is a rapidly growing field focused on restoring tissue structure and function following injury or disease.

Interdisciplinary program engaging faculty from Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, and Business with the goal of producing leaders in regenerative medicine by providing training across these diverse disciplines. The Regenerative Medicine IGEP brings together faculty from Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Business and Science and Technology in Society to combine thei

r skills and expertise into a cohesive learning environment with the goal of producing graduates with unique perspectives and skill sets. The field of regenerative medicine necessitates consideration of ethical and societal impacts alongside advances in biology and medicine. Swift translation from bench to bedside provokes a need for consideration of impacts on public policy and the economic feasibility of technology. Through contributions from the four participating disciplines, the IGEP in Regenerative Medicine seeks to employ innovative approaches that develop both a diverse understanding and training portfolio to prepare graduates for the many career paths open to them upon completion of the program.

Congratulations to Dylan Easley on his 1st place presentation in the Innovation & Technology Advancement category at this week's VT GPSS Reseach Symposium. Great job Dylan! Dylan also represented TBMH and the RM IGEP at last week's BMVS Research Symposium at Vet Med with a podium presentation. Dylan is a TBMH student working in Dr. Vincent Wang's lab in BEAM. His project is funded by a VCOM/VMCVM One Health grant on which Dr. Linda Dahlgren and Dr. Gunnar Brolinson are Co-PIs. This is an excellent example of the fantastic interdisciplinary research and graduate training going on at VT. Congrats to the entire team.
