After a busy season filled with events and travel, I finally took time to pause and reflect on the tremendous honor of receiving the 2026 WEPAN Bevlee A. Watford Inclusive Excellence Award.
This national recognition holds special meaning because I have had the privilege of knowing Dr. Bevlee A. Watford for 24 years. She was my supervisor, advisor, mentor, and colleague. Through her words and actions, she consistently demonstrated how to use your voice, ask meaningful questions, and navigate challenging times with courage and purpose. Her unwavering commitment to inclusive excellence has profoundly shaped my journey of mentoring students, building pathways, and creating opportunities for others.
Having my family by my side made this milestone even more meaningful. They have supported me through so many of life’s defining moments, and I am deeply grateful for their unwavering love and encouragement. It was also a joy to introduce them to some of the remarkable colleagues and students who make this work so rewarding.
