Our office supports new Hokie families and students during their transition to Virginia Tech.

New Student and Family Programs (Hokies on Track) welcomes all new Hokies and their families to Virginia Tech and is responsible for helping in the transition to college life. Our Mission:
New Student and Family Programs creates transitional opportunities to prepare new students and their families for academic and co-curricular experiences at Virginia Tech through cultivating an environment that embraces learning, diversity, inclusion, and welcoming of all new Hokies.

New Student and Family Programs is thrilled to introduce Hokie Family 101 β€” a brand-new learning experience created specifically for 𝐟𝐒𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐒π₯𝐒𝐞𝐬 at Virginia Tech! 🧑❀️

This interactive 9-week program will take place during Fall 2026 inside a private Facebook group and is designed to help families feel informed, connected, and supported throughout their student's transition to Virginia Tech.

Participants can look forward to:
✨ Weekly themed content
✨ Live office hours
✨ Campus resource spotlights
✨ Tips and tools to support your student’s success

Family members of new Hokies admitted for Fall 2026 β€” today marks an exciting milestone! Virtual Orientation opens today, May 1, and is a mandatory part of the new student orientation experience.

This required experience helps students prepare for their transition to Virginia Tech by introducing key resources, expectations, and next steps before arriving on campus.

As you support your student, here are a few upcoming highlights from the New Student Checklist to keep in mind:
