🎓✨ Congratulations, Dr. Akila Herath! ✨🎓

A huge congratulations to Akila Herath from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech on successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation, “Resilience through Cyber-Layer Defense in Digital Substations,” under the guidance of Prof. Chen-Ching Liu!

Akila’s research focused on strengthening the cybersecurity and resilience of modern electric substations, helping them withstand cyberattacks and recover critical operations after cyber compromises. His Ph.D. journey also resulted in four first-author publications, including two journal papers and two conference papers! 🎉

Beyond this incredible academic achievement, Akila has been a wonderful part of our Sri Lankan Students Association at Virginia Tech, including serving as a former President. His leadership, dedication, and involvement have contributed so much to our SLSA community over the years. 🇱🇰❤️

Akila, thank you for all the wonderful memories, laughter, and moments we’ve shared together. You have been such a meaningful part of our SLSA family, and we are so happy to celebrate this special milestone with you.

Wishing you continued success, happiness, and many exciting opportunities in the journey ahead. We are so proud of you, Dr. Herath! 🎓🥳

A little piece of Sri Lanka in Blacksburg! 🇱🇰❤️

We had a wonderful time being part of the Welcoming Week celebration at the Blacksburg Library! ✨ It was a beautiful opportunity to share a little bit of Sri Lankan culture with our community.

From trying on the beautiful Kandyan Saree and tasting some of our favorite Sri Lankan sweets 🍬, to enjoying fun traditional games 🎯,we loved seeing both kids and adults join in, learn, laugh, and experience our culture.

A special thank you to the Blacksburg Library for inviting us and giving us this wonderful opportunity to share and celebrate Sri Lankan culture with the community! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and celebrated with us. It was truly a lovely evening filled with culture, connection, and lots of smiles! 🇱🇰✨
