Meet the First Ever African American Head Coach in NFL History Today, NFL head coaches include people of all ages and races. However, a century ago, Frederick Douglass Fritz Pollard became the first African American head coach in NFL History.

Anybody recognize some of these 2013 All Star cuties? 😀

A special thank you goes out to these two people who selflessly volunteered their time to coach these young ladies. To say we appreciate you is an understatement! Your knowledge and love of the game inspired these young players and we are grateful to the both of you for not only your dedication to this team, but to BHS softball as a whole. Cheyene, good luck to you as you continue your education and pursue your law degree! We will miss you next season! Marty, thank you for leading and coaching this team again this year. We are already looking forward to next season!

The post-season didn't end the way we hoped, but these young players came together as a team, worked hard, and left it all out there on the field. Keep working hard in the off season ladies... you'll get 'em next year! Here's a few of our favorite images from the last two games.

Tonight was the last home game for the regular season as well as a night to honor our seniors, Brooke Anderson and Tori Dickert. Thank you ladies for your dedication to Blacksburg softball as well as your many contributions to the game itself. We wish you well as you head off to your next adventure!

This rainy day (and the long break) is making us wish for sunny skies and a dirt diamond! The next game is Tuesday at BHS against Giles (5 pm), In the meantime, enjoy some of our favorite images from the past few games.

Good things are "Bruin" for Blacksburg High School Softball! Did you see what I did there? Lol, ok sorry for the pun! Seriously though, in their inaugural season, the middle school softball team is definitely making their presence known going 14-6 so far for the season. They still have six more games to play, but there is no doubt that the future of Bruins Softball is looking great!
