If you are interested in returning to the LLC next school year, please read below on the 3 different roles you could return as!
🚨SUBMIT QUICK!🚨 The application to return closes TOMORROW!!!
🧡 Committee Member (Upper-Class Leader)
1. These students are typically 2nd, 3rd, or 4th years that are interested in planning and hosting various types of programming for 1st year Galileo and Hypatia LLC students. If you have a passion for planning events (social, professional development, stable mind initiative, studio, and community engagement)this will be the position for YOU!
2. Students that are Committee Members are required to live in Pritchard Hall within Galipatia LLC and enroll into ENGR 2044 in the Fall 2026 semester.
3. How to apply: Submit your StarRez application (choose committee Member position) no later than November 14th
🧡 Peer Mentor (Upper-Class Leader)
1. These students are typically 2nd, 3rd, or 4th years that are interested in supporting future 1st year College of Engineering students! If you have a passion for mentoring, guiding, and supporting others this position is for YOU!
2. Students that are peer mentors are NOT required to live on campus BUT are required to enroll into ENGR 2044 in the Fall 2026 semester.
3. How to apply:
-> If you want to live in Pritchard Hall (Galipatia LLC) and be a Peer Mentor submit the StarRez application (choose General Member position) no later than November 14th AND submit the Microsoft peer mentor application form that will open on November 1st.
-> If you are not wanting to return to Pritchard Hall but you want to be a peer mentor you are ONLY required to submit the Microsoft peer mentor application form that will open on November 1st.
🧡 General Galipatia LLC Member
1. These students are students that interested in returning to Galipatia LLC with no leadership position.
2. How to apply:
1. Submit the StarRez Application and choose the “General Member” position in StarRez.

🃏We will have multiple board games, card games, and other activities like trivia, Pictionary, and friendship bracelet making etc.
⏰ The event will be hosted over a 4 hour window for which you only have to attend for 1 hour to ensure credit.

✅ Students are tasked with creating a short 3-minute pitch on ANY TOPIC OF THEIR CHOOSING prior to the event!
-> students can work alone or in a group of up to 3 people
👩🏫🧑🏫 Pitch your topic to a panel of judges and an audience, once concluded each judge will provide an approval or denial along with a brief explanation.
-> you can create slides to assist with your presentation, but they’re not required!
🏆Judges will then deliberate to pick their top 5 pitches! The event concludes with a short awards ceremony, and the top 5 pitches will receive a prize!

🎃 Come join the SMI Committee along with Hokie Wellness for a party positive workshop, centered around party safety and alcohol awareness!
👻 This is an interactive workshop! Learn about standard drinks, BAC factors, tolerance, how to help a friend, and more! Review helpful harm reduction strategies to optimize the positive effects of alcohol, while reducing the negatives!
🍬 The event will be hosted on Sunday, October 26th, from 2-3 PM in the Pritchard L2 Classroom! Attend and enjoy some free candy!!!

⚙️STUDIO BIG EVENT!⚙️
🗼Take part in a hands-on engineering challenge to design and construct the tallest free-standing structure possible using everyday materials provided in the studio, such as popsicle sticks, string, paper, tape, and hot glue.
📆 The competition will be held over four days, but participants only need to attend *one session*, where they will form teams of four to collaborate on their designs.
🏅At the conclusion of each session, structures will be measured from the base to their highest point, with the requirement that each creation must remain standing independently for at least ten seconds to qualify.
🔥This event offers an engaging opportunity to apply creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic and competitive setting.
🚨Make sure to arrive 10 minutes early. You will need to complete the Machine Shop Safety EHS Training Course before attending this training. It is accessible at the following link: https://ehss.vt.edu/profile.php. If you do not complete the training, you will be unable to participate in the event. 🚨
