Fun stuff from ALC Mosaic.

Inspired by the interest we have in geocaching, Dan created a scavenger hunt around the building yesterday. He hid 7 keys that the kids had to find (and keys were hidden in places like under a KEYboard and on piano KEYs). Each key corresponded to a letter and the kids had to them unscramble the letters to enter the word that unlocks the cryptex in the picture here. In the cryptex is the final clue that will lead the kids to park where the treasure is hidden!!

SOLE summer update:
Here is the latest on our efforts to provide self-organized learning opportunities for students of all ages. Geronimo Education, which is the 501(c)3 within which Black Mountain SOLE exists, recently reconfigured its board. We are excited to announce that joining BMS core team member Steve Cooperman on the board are: Nancy Tilton, Founder of the Mosaic School, a K-12 Agile Learning Center, in Charlotte, NC; Tomis Parker, Community Manager at the Agile Learning Center @ Manhattan Free School; and Arthur Brock, ALC’s Director and Co-founder of Emerging Leader Labs. The board will be meeting in July to strategize next steps for the organization. Current plans include a SOLE program in Asheville starting this Fall, and an Agile Learning Facilitator Intensive, starting July 7 in Charlotte. Dave and Andra, who got married at the end of last year, are getting ready to head to England, where Andra will be resuming her Ph.D. at Cambridge.
