Let the staffer know that since 2014, marxist Democratic Socialists and the SPLC (with an $800 milion endowment) have led the move to eradicate Confederate Memorials as "Hate" & White Supremacy, but now are moving their agenda along targeting other periods of our shared History, including Revolutionary War heroes.

Resolution Honoring the Life and Legacy of
Harold Kenneth “H.K.” Edgerton

WHEREAS, Harold Kenneth “H.K.” Edgerton, born February 18, 1948, in Asheville, North Carolina, and who
departed this life on January 18, 2026, was a loyal son of the South, a veteran of the United States Army, a
community leader, past president of the Ashville Branch of the NAACP, and who pursued a life marked by
devotion and service to his community and his Southern family; and

WHEREAS, Brother Edgerton possessed a warrior’s spirit coupled with a servant’s heart, tirelessly defending
Confederate heroes of all races and creeds; by acting as a steadfast shield for students persecuted for honoring
their Southern heritage; and, while navigating controversy with unfailing warmth, dignity, and a profound sense
of brotherhood earned respect and affection of compatriots and citizens throughout the South and across the
globe; and

WHEREAS, through his unwavering loyalty, dedicated educational outreach, and iconic marches—most notably
the March Across Dixie—Brother Edgerton served as a living embodiment of the Charge of Lieutenant General
Stephen Dill Lee, profoundly honoring the duty to remember, vindicate, and defend the cause for which
Confederate soldiers contended; and

WHEREAS, Brother Edgerton was an Honorary member of several Camps of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in various
states and supported those Camps through his dedicated efforts, participating in public events including parades,
fairs, re-enactments, and other activities;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sons of Confederate Veterans, assembled in National Reunion in
Lexington, Kentucky, does hereby honor and remember Harold Kenneth “H.K.” Edgerton;

and be it further RESOLVED, that all compatriots do whatever is in their power to promote the legacy of Brother Edgerton and to continue his work into the future;

and be it further RESOLVED, that the Sons of Confederate Veterans extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, compatriots, and all who loved Brother Edgerton, praying that they may be comforted by the knowledge that his labors, his voice, and his faithful witness shall not be forgotten;

and be it further RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the records of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, furnished to the family of H.K. Edgerton, and shared with the membership as a lasting tribute to a beloved compatriot whose life exemplified duty, remembrance, and devotion.

Submitted for consideration at the 131st Annual Sons of Confederate Veterans National Reunion, Lexington, Kentucky, July 15–19, 2026

WHEREAS, recent federal criminal allegations concerning activities dating back to 2014 have come to light regarding the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and its alleged "hate-for-profit" enterprise, which utilized laundered, donor-funded resources to bolster the very extremist organizations it publicly claimed to oppose; and

WHEREAS, the Sons of Confederate Veterans is charged with defending the good name of the Confederate Veteran, and since 2016, the SPLC has thwarted our mission through an immense campaign of social and political terrorism, using donor funds to defame the memory of the Confederate Veteran and his public memorialization through inflammatory lies, distortions, biased imagery, maps, reports, and media influence—actions that have arguably resulted in the removal and desecration of hundreds of memorials, monuments, gravesites, and other public observances; and through these actions have borne false witness against its neighbors using lies, distortions, and reputation-damaging labels, and such conduct must be condemned; and

WHEREAS, the Sons of Confederate Veterans seeks neither revenge nor retaliation, but rather truth, accountability, repentance where wrongdoing has occurred, and the restoration of the respect due to the Confederate Veteran—a level of respect extended by the Union veterans of the War themselves toward our ancestors during and after the conflict—and to all citizens falsely maligned by the SPLC’s harmful campaigns;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sons of Confederate Veterans, assembled in National Reunion in Lexington, Kentucky, does hereby condemn the Southern Poverty Law Center’s public stigmatization campaigns that have damaged the good name of our ancestors, wasted our resources, and suppressed our scripturally mandated memorializations through the SPLC’s reckless and unbiblical targeting of our ancestors; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Sons of Confederate Veterans pray for those who have relied upon SPLC designations to demean Confederate Veterans, their descendants, memorial associations, or heritage organizations; that in this is 250th anniversary year of American independence they will come to reconsider the SPLC’s claims regarding the Confederate Veteran and will join with us to restore respect not only for the Confederate Veteran who endured hardship and took a courageous stand in defense of hearth and home, but also for all American veterans and will work to repair the damage caused by the weaponization of history as practiced by the SPLC and its allies.

On January 15, 1995, Kentuckian Michael David Westerman 19, was murdered by thugs.
His newborn twins were only six weeks old. He didn’t get a chance to live out
their plans as a family. Michael was a terrific son, brother, husband, daddy
and friend. Michael will always be missed, loved and remembered through all our
hearts.

On January 14, 1995, Michael and his wife, Hannah, were going out shopping and to eat for the first time since the birth of their twins. Michael had a big red
Chevy truck with a large Confederate flag mounted in the back. They stopped in
Guthrie, KY at the market to buy gas and gum.

When they were leaving the market, three cars of black males followed behind them.
They chased the Westermans down the highway, firing shots into the truck,
striking Michael in the heart. Hannah slid down into the driver’s seat. One hostile car
passed the truck and blocked it in on the highway, still firing shots at them.
Hannah managed to drive through two deep ditches and get the truck turned around and drove Michael to the hospital.

On January 15th, Michael died. Nine youths were arrested but only seven charged. In one hearing, three received probation. At the trial of the shooters, one, age 15 was acquitted, and one turned state’s witness, receiving two years probation. The driver, Damien Darden, and the shooter, Freddy Morrow, were charged with first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and civil rights
intimidation. They both were sentenced to life in prison for murder. Morrow got nine additional years for the kidnapping and civil rights. Darden got an additional eight years for the kidnapping and civil rights. They are serving their time in the Tiptonville Tennessee Prison.

The above WOKE amendment to the Senate Version of the National Defense Authorization Act 2027, made it through the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing almost 3 weeks ago. The Entire bill now goes to the full Senate after the recess that ends 13 JUL
We are opposed to Section 356a on principle, but the amendment needs to be stripped out of the final Senate version so that it cannot be interpreted to prevent restoration and return of the Reconciliation Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery by 2027, promised by Secretary of War Hegseth.

Pvt. William M. Sadler, Company K, 46th Alabama Infantry. Sadler enlisted on 28 April 1862 in Louina, Alabama. His service was short lived as he passed away in Knoxville, Tennessee on 13 August 1862 after contracting a fever. Proof that a star on the hat doth not always signify a Texan!

HAPPY 419th year for DIXIELAND!!! My Family got to Virginia in 1622!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (02 JUL) to my Granddaughter Eliza, who is 3!

Prayer Update, My Lady wife is doing fine. Thank you for the many well-wishes & prayers for Brenna. Procedure was successful and less expensive than I thought $800.00

We will remove the Oak and save the Ash. My dying 100 year old Oak (see photo) near my house needs to come down but the Tree people say the Ash next to it needs to be pruned but can be saved. Cost will be $4200 and hope to have the Oak down in late July.

And I need to make it to the upcoming SCV National Reunion in KY (esp the Westerman Memorial) 15-19 JUL that will cost about $2,000 including hotel and car rental!

We hope there will be an HK Edgerton Tribute during one of the business Sessions

The Southern Independence association, sponsoring the HK Edgerton Civil Rights Initiative will have an Hospitality Suite early Wednesday evening at the host hotel. All are welcome!

At the Memorial Service (Friday 17 JUL 2:30 PM) we will honor the memory of Michael David Westerman of Kentucky, murdered in 1995 for having a Confederate flag on his truck. Members of the Westerman family will be present.

Over the last few years I have relied on my social Security to pay most of my bills, with only an irregular stipend from SLRC. I can't do that any more. Things will have to change, but first I must survive the Summer!

SEC. 356. NAMING OF CERTAIN ASSETS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA.
Naming of Assets in Virginia.- Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act the Secretary of Defense shall implement the naming recommendations for assets of the Department of Defense in the Commonwealth of Virginia that were adopted by the Commission.

The above WOKE amendment to the Senate Version of the National Defense Authorization Act 2027, made it through the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing almost 2 weeks ago. The Entire bill now goes to the full Senate after the recess that ends 13 JUL

We are opposed to Section 356a on principle, but the amendment needs to be stripped out of the final Senate version so that it cannot be interpreted to prevent restoration and return of the Reconciliation Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery by 2027, promised by Secretary of War Hegseth.

SO YOU KNOW THE DRILL

Call your Republican Senator 202-224-3121 and tell them to make sure Section 356 (a) is stripped out of the NDAA 2027 before they vote on the bill.
