At its core, it is the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.

In practice, classical Christian education is the formation of a student's character and mind through what is commonly called the liberal arts and the "great books", all studied through the lens of the Greatest Book ever written (the Bible).

It's not derived from textbooks or commentaries, but directly encounters the ideas themselves — Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, Moses, Christ — in conversation with one another, and with you, placing you in the Great Conversation itself (all within the flow of the Biblical narrative).

The goal of classical education was always to produce free people. The word liberal is derived from the Latin root word liber, which quite literally means "free" —  it's where we get the word liberty from. It is these subjects that were considered essential for someone to be free and active in society. Free to think. Free to discern. Free to engage the world. 

When you understand why you believe what you believe, your faith becomes unshakeable.

The humanities are fundamentally communal.

They're not meant to be consumed alone (hence why the greatest philosophers and thinkers of our age were involved in a Great Conversation). Through discussion-based learning, shared ideas, reading groups, and a collective pursuit of truth, students learn how to do life with one another in a meaningful, transformative way — not just coexist.

Creativity is an inherent part of humanity as the Imago Dei. We create because we were created.

The humanities, through the Biblical narrative, help form the foundation from which our imagination and creative capacity take flight.

The humanities confront us with questions, asking what is worth bringing to life. Within them, we learn to dwell on that which is true, honorable, pure, and lovely so that what we create might reflect these attributes, as well.

All learning, rightly ordered, leads back to God.

The Core curriculum is built on the conviction that every discipline — theology, philosophy, biology, economics, art — is part of the pursuit of truth, and that truth ultimately points to God. Studying the humanities isn't separate from knowing God, it's learning to read the Book of His Works alongside the Book of His Word.

A.I. might be able to replace a lot of what we do, but it cannot replace what we are.

It can write the essay, create workflows, code websites, generate an answer to every question, write captions (...not this one, we promise) — but it cannot comfort a grieving friend, share in the joys of life with you, stand in awe of the beauty of a sunset, or discern truth from information. 

Those are distinctly human qualities.

They are the result of choosing to be confronted by scripture, literature, philosophy, and other humans, and being formed and humbled by the truth.
