Rainy Writing

Coy was super excited to tell me about his holiday plans today! So we decided to write up directions for two of his favorite games to play so you can play them this holiday as well. We hope you enjoy your time with friends and family and find time to run around outside!

Two Games to Play in a Field

Crackerbarrel
You need a ball, 12+ players, and a big field
1. Players stand in a circle with one player in the middle
2. The player in the middle kicks the ball in to the air and says, “Crackerbarrel”
3. Players scramble to get the ball and the player that gets the ball throws it at a person.
4. If a player gets hit they are out of the game until the player that hit them gets out.
5. The game ends when there is only one player left.
And do it again!!!!!

Infection
You need 5+ players
1. Pick a player to count up to 100!
2. While the other players go hide!
3. When the player finishes counting they find the other players and tags them.

7th graders learn about scale factors and ratios and such. I found a Shrinky D**k kit - remember those? So my 7th grade students are creating designs that we can shrink and then calculate the differences. Fun!

Here at the workshop we focus a lot on fluency and use multisensory concepts. This is a great FREE resource to help parents understand how to build mathematical thinking with their kids.

Create simple bags of manipulatives or us objects commonly found at home to teach math with activities and responses. Students build conceptual knowledge as they experience math concepts using concrete materials.
