Dear BDE Families,

I wanted to take a moment to share with you some news. As some of you know last year I completed the requirements to earn an Administration Certification. My goal was to earn the certification and patiently wait for a leadership opportunity within the Enumclaw School District to present itself, even if that meant waiting a year or two. However, as it turns out, I didn't have to wait that long!

I have been given the incredible opportunity to be the Associate Principal of Byron Kibler Elementary School in Enumclaw. I feel this position is a great stepping stone for me and I look forward to working alongside the new principal to support this amazing school!

Black Diamond has been my home for the last 9 years! It is a magical place and I am so grateful for the relationships I've developed with so many students, families, and community members over the years. You and your unwavering support for me and my classroom made this a challenging decision for me and while I will miss the BD community tremendously, I am excited for this next chapter in my professional journey.

As I've told my students on the last day of school for each of the last 16 years...once you are a student of mine, you will ALWAYS be a student of mine... even though I am moving across the bridge, please know I will always be available to support you and your students!

Our Food Truck War project ended yesterday. Students got to share their creations with Mrs. Landry's and Mr. Dilly's classes. Here are a few of the trucks that were created!

Students are learning about the Natives of Washington State. Today, they learned about the natural resources used in the daily lives of northwest natives. They worked in teams to teach others what they learned about salmon, trees, hunting, and stone and how these resources were important to the native culture!

Group A and Group B celebrated Read Across America Day over the last 2 days! Black Diamond Police Officer Kris was our guest reader, we enjoyed donuts while practice lines for the "Stone Soup" play each group performed. There were no props or costumes, just really good reading and team work!! Black Diamond WA Police Department

This week both groups played games to practice our multiplication facts! They learned Tic-Tac-Toe Products, Can You Guess?, and Circle & Stars. All of these games can be played at home. The directions are in this week's module!!

This week Group A and B participated in socially distanced group discussions! Took them awhile to start the conversations, but once they got talking, they seemed to enjoy the experience!
