We’re reaching out to our community because we are so close to getting where we need to be. ❤️

Right now, we need just 4 more childcare spots filled to break even and keep moving forward. We know finding childcare that truly works for your family can be stressful, so for these remaining openings, we are willing to work with families to find a schedule that fits their needs.

We truly appreciate everyone who has shared our posts, tagged friends, recommended us, or simply helped spread the word. Community support means more to a small childcare center than people realize.

If you know a family searching for care, please tag them, send them our information, or share this post. Even one share could help connect us with the family we’re looking for. ❤️

Message us anytime to ask questions, talk about scheduling, or set up a tour!

Don’t you just hate when you’re trying to get a simple question answered and you feel like you’re talking in circles with a robot? 😂 It’s seriously one of my biggest pet peeves!

As much as AI and automated answering systems are being pushed in childcare for phone calls, texts, and messages, that’s one thing we don’t plan on replacing.

When you call, text, or email Community Builders Childcare, you’re talking to an actual person, usually an owner or one of our directors. We want you to be able to ask questions, explain your situation, and have a real conversation with someone who actually knows our center, our programs, and our families.

Technology can make a lot of things easier, but we still believe some things should stay personal. ❤️

Also… peep these bougie kiddos enjoying their Mile 22 smoothies 😂 They’re living better than all of us at this point.

🐍 Teacher Spotlight: Amanda! ❤️💙

This picture pretty much sums Amanda up perfectly 😂 She is always willing to jump right in with the kiddos, even when that means holding a snake! 🐍 She makes experiences like this feel fun, exciting, and a little less scary for the kids because she is right there doing it with them.

Amanda is also one of those teachers who is always on top of things. She pays attention to what needs to get done, stays organized, helps keep the classroom running smoothly, and is always thinking ahead. She is dependable, hardworking, and someone we can count on to notice the little things before they become big things.

Most importantly, Amanda brings so much patience, care, and encouragement into the classroom. She helps create an environment where kids feel safe to try new things, be themselves, and have fun while learning.

We are so thankful to have Amanda as part of our Community Builders Childcare family and appreciate everything she brings to our team every single day! ❤️💙

And apparently we can add snake handler to her list of talents now too 😂🐍

Meet the Owners ❤️

Hi! We’re Mikayla and Kyle, the owners of Community Builders Childcare!

Outside of childcare, we love hiking, boating, traveling, and spending time with our family. But Community Builders has become such a huge part of who we are and what we feel called to do.

Our story actually started in a way we never expected.

A few years ago, Mikayla got a concussion and wasn’t able to continue working with the condition she was in. Kyle had always dreamed of owning a business, and Mikayla had always had a passion for early childhood education. So after a lot of prayer and conversations about what our next step should be, we decided to start a small in-home childcare program.

And when we say small, we mean we truly started from the ground up.

Right after our wedding and getting two dogs, with the help of our family, we completely remodeled a garage in less than two months to turn it into a space for kiddos. It was a lot of work, a lot of long days, and definitely a family effort, but that little space became the beginning of Community Builders.

After about a year, our waitlist grew bigger than what our home could handle. We prayed about what was next, took out a loan, and took a huge leap of faith to open our first center in Black Creek.

As that location continued to grow, we were eventually able to take another big leap and open our Appleton location!

And somehow, what started with a concussion, a garage remodel, a lot of prayer, and an in-home daycare has turned into something so much bigger than we ever imagined.

Through all of it, not only has Community Builders grown, but we have too. Our faith has become an important part of how we’ve learned to trust the process, especially when we don’t always know exactly what the next step looks like.

A lot of what we make goes right back into Community Builders. Into our classrooms. Our teachers. Our curriculum. Experiences for the kids. Improvements to our buildings. And figuring out how we can continue to make childcare better.

We also believe being owners means staying connected to what actually happens inside our classrooms. We want to know our kids, know our teachers, listen when something isn’t working, and never stop asking how we can do better.

Is owning childcare centers challenging? Absolutely. There are days that are exhausting. There are days we question ourselves. But then we walk into a classroom and get a giant hug or a fist bump from one of the kids and remember exactly why we started.

Our why is walking into a classroom and being greeted with fist bumps, hugs, and kids excited to tell us about their day.

Our why is watching a child learn something they couldn’t do before.

Our why is watching our teachers grow in confidence and realize how much of an impact they have.

Our why is being in a field where we have the opportunity to make a difference every single day.

Just under a year ago, our lives expanded outside of childcare when we became foster parents. Our mission has always been to make a difference in the lives of children, and fostering made that mission even bigger.

We believe children deserve more than the bare minimum.

Whether that means helping a child in our home understand what it feels like to be loved, supported, and safe, or helping a child in one of our classrooms feel secure enough to learn, grow, make mistakes, and become who they are meant to be.

Our journey to having a family of our own has also looked different than we imagined. We have struggled with infertility, and while pregnancy may not be in God’s plan for us at this moment, we believe there is still so much purpose in the season we are in.

To love kids who need it.

To advocate for them.

To support the people caring for them.

To challenge the stereotypes surrounding childcare and fostering.

To keep pushing for more than “good enough.”

And to fight for what we believe is in the best interest of children, even when doing so isn’t always easy.

We don’t want to build something that’s simply good enough to meet the minimum. We want to build places where children are known, teachers are supported, families feel heard, and we’re always willing to learn, grow, and do better.

Community Builders isn’t just a business to us.

It’s where so much of our time, energy, and money goes because we genuinely believe in what we are building. It’s our passion, our purpose, and one of the biggest ways we hope to leave this world a little better than we found it.

That is our why. ❤️

We wanted to make this because childcare isn’t one-size-fits-all. There are some AMAZING in-home providers and some amazing centers. The goal isn’t to say one is bad and the other is good. It’s to help families understand what makes each option different and why we chose to build Community Builders the way we did. ❤️💙

One thing that is really important to us is support.

Research in early childhood education has shown that educators experience high levels of workplace stress and that a lack of support can contribute to burnout. That matters to us because childcare is HARD work, and we don’t believe one teacher should have to carry everything alone.

Our teachers have coworkers to brainstorm with, directors to go to for support, additional staff who can step in when needed, and owners who are hands-on and involved in the centers.

And this same idea carries into our curriculum too.

We don’t believe every teacher needs the exact same type of support, and we definitely don’t believe every child learns the exact same way.

Our curriculum introduces a concept, observes where each child is at, and then builds individualized goals from there. That means instead of expecting every child to fit into one box, we can meet them where they are, build on their strengths, and help them grow at their own pace.

So really, our approach is the same for both our staff and our kiddos:

Support the individual. Meet them where they are. Give them the tools they need to grow.

If a teacher is overwhelmed, there are people around them.

If a child is struggling, we can come together and figure out what that individual child needs.

If something isn’t working, we adjust instead of forcing the same approach over and over.

Wisconsin licensing gives regulated childcare programs standards to meet. Our goal has always been to look at those standards and ask, “How can we go beyond them?”

Because children deserve more than the bare minimum. ❤️💙

Last chance to enroll for our 3K–4K program at our Appleton location with Mrs Isabella!

Our 3K–4K program is FREE for kiddos who attend full time with us.

Our curriculum uses Handwriting Without Tears, the Pyramid Model, and HighScope. We introduce a concept, observe where each child is at, and then help them improve from there. This allows children to learn through their own interests and at their own pace, while still building the skills they need to be ready for school.

We really believe learning shouldn’t be a one size fits all approach. Every child is different, and our goal is to meet them where they are and help them keep growing.

If you’ve been thinking about enrolling, now is the time! Must enroll by August 28th! Message us for more information or to schedule a tour.

We’re inviting our community to come join us for a fun end-of-summer event! 🌽🍎🥕

Community Builders Childcare will be hosting a Farmer’s Market Swap on Wednesday, August 26th at 3:00 PM located at 1220 N Mayflower Dr Appleton Wi!

Our kiddos will each get their own farmer’s market bag and have the chance to “shop,” swap, and explore different farmer’s market goodies.

We would LOVE to have members of our community join in too! If you have extra garden produce, fruit, veggies, or other farmer’s market items you would like to donate for the kids to swap, we would be so grateful. 💚

You do not have to be a currently enrolled family to participate. Come check us out, meet our team, and enjoy a fun little afternoon with us!

If you would like to donate items or participate, send us a message so we can plan accordingly.

Please share and help us spread the word! 🍓🌽🥦

🐍 We had some VERY brave kiddos today!!

Our friends from Traveling Snake Show came to visit and brought some pretty awesome snakes for the kids to meet! Some were a little unsure at first, while others were ready to hold one immediately 😂

They got to touch, hold, observe, ask questions, and learn all about these amazing animals.

And did you know interacting with animals, including reptiles, can help support mental health by reducing stress, building confidence, and encouraging calm, focused interactions? These snakes help kiddos with adhd, autism, etc giving the feel of a weighted vest❤️

I think the smiles say it all… definitely a daycare day they won’t forget! 🐍
