Good evening Spartans,
I've had so many people ask how the first few days have gone, so I thought I'd give you a little glimpse into the start of school through the lens of a superintendent!
Every single student I talked to in this first week talked about how great the school days have been for them. Of course, I wasn't satisfied with a one-word answer, so I asked more questions. And here is some of what I heard:
- The teachers are SO nice!
- My driver was kind to us. (We actually have a video of a kiddo who says the driver is her favorite part of her first day of school)!
- I loved seeing my friends.
- We didn't have to work too hard yet.
- I love my principal.
- Are you my principal? (sometimes we take what we can get)
- It wasn't scary after all. (Heard this by 7th graders the most, but also 3rd, 4th, and 10th; heard it from new kids, too)
- I was starving by lunchtime, and I got to eat my lunch with friends.
- The teachers were really kind.
- I didn't know where to go, but neither did anyone else.
- People showed me what to do.
- Kids here were nicer than I thought they would be (2 new kids, 1 at HS, 1 at MS)
- I thought we'd never get out of here (kid at elementary waiting for second bus load to go home, when the bus pulled up)
And my favorite:
- Wait, is my brother going to get on the bus with me or does he get to stay?
