🚨 Scholarship Applications Are NOW OPEN! 🚨

The TAAP – Training Academy for Addiction Professionals is excited to announce that the North Dakota Addiction Counseling Scholarship application is officially open!

This scholarship is designed to support North Dakotans who are pursuing a career in addiction counseling, including:
🎓 Students entering their junior or senior year in an addiction counseling program or a related field leading to addiction counseling licensure.
📚 Non-degree seeking students who need additional coursework to meet North Dakota addiction counseling licensure requirements.
🎓 Students pursuing a Master's degree in Addiction Counseling at Minot State University or the University of Mary.

📅 Application Deadline: August 14, 2026 at 5:00 PM CT

📍 Interviews: Applicants selected for interviews must be available between August 17–20, 2026.

⏱️ Funding decisions will be made quickly, with scholarship contracts issued the week of August 24 so tuition payments can be processed directly with your college or university in time for the fall semester.

Recipients will commit to becoming licensed in addiction counseling and practicing in North Dakota for five years following completion of their training, helping strengthen the behavioral health workforce across our state.

🎉 Celebrating the Completion of TAAP Round 2 – Year 1! 🎉

What an incredible year it has been!

Over the past year, the Training Academy for Addiction Professionals (TAAP) has continued its mission of strengthening North Dakota's addiction counseling workforce by investing in students, supporting clinical supervisors, expanding educational opportunities, and building partnerships across our state.

Together, we've made meaningful progress by:
💙 Awarding 42 scholarships to future addiction counselors, including 10 dedicated to students serving rural, Tribal, and underserved communities
🎓 Supporting the next generation of addiction counselors through paid clinical training
👥 Expanding clinical supervision and workforce development opportunities
🤝 Strengthening partnerships with colleges, universities, treatment providers, Tribal communities, and regional consortiums
🌾 Continuing to remove barriers to licensure and increase access to addiction treatment throughout North Dakota

While we're proud of these accomplishments, we're even more excited about what they represent a stronger workforce, healthier communities, and increased access to quality addiction treatment for individuals and families across North Dakota.

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our trainees, clinical supervisors, training sites, educational partners, Governance Board, Heartview Foundation leadership, funding partners, and everyone committed to growing the addiction counseling profession. Thank you for believing in this mission and for helping us create opportunities that will benefit North Dakota for generations to come.

As we begin Year 2, we're looking forward to building on this momentum, expanding opportunities, and continuing to strengthen the addiction counseling workforce across our great state.
