Our students had a blast today bringing their college research to life! 🎲 They played the board games they created. The day was filled with creativity, laughter, and awesome collaboration.

AVID 6 spent some time today facing off binders versus planners. Activities like this give students time to think, write, reflect, and then defend their claim based on evidence. It also gives students time to collaborate in an authentic way. We had a lot of fun!

AVID 7 and AVID 8 are creating board games and digital projects to promote the colleges they researched! Watch for more pictures next week of our presentations!

AVID 6 has been digging into Costa's Levels of Thinking and Questioning. We are sharpening our critical thinking and questioning skills as we learn about Costa's! Today it was "I mustache you a question!" Studies show we think better with a mustache! Ask your AVID scholar about it!

Last Friday we played one of our favorite team building activities - Celebrity Student. It is a great way to engage with each other in different ways and learn new things about each other! We had a blast!

AVID 6 has been busy learning about the power of leadership! Today we dug into self-advocacy and why it is such an important part of leadership! Ask your AVID scholar all about it!

AVID 8 had a very exciting campus visit to the University of Mary! They do an exceptional job welcoming us to campus and making us feel like we belong. Campus visits are some of the highlights of our year! Ask your AVID Scholar about it!

Team building this week, we kept up one of our favorite “family traditions," Love Letters to AVID! 💌

Students wrote sweet, funny, and honest notes about their relationship with AVID. Some were full of appreciation… and a few decided to write dramatic break-up letters instead (apparently AVID can be a little demanding 😅).

Either way, the giggles were real and the intention and purpose they poured into their letters made my AVID heart happy!

AVID 7 had a great adventure today to the BSC Campus! We learned a ton while touring the campus and playing BINGO! We took the opportunity to imagine our future and what it could look like. BSC is always a very gracious host!

AVID 6 started our Body Biographies! This is a great way to get to know each! Please ask your AVID Scholar about all the laughs along the way!

AVID 7 is preparing for our Campus Visit to BSC tomorrow. These trips are very memorable and we learn a lot! We also miss school, so we worked on some homework today! With the skills learned in AVID, students naturally plan ahead, make lists, and prioritize tasks!

AVID 8 started our college research project today. While researching colleges the students dream big and make connections to their futures!
