ND Agriculture in the Classroom works hard to promote an understanding of the importance agricultural plays in the state of North Dakota and the values of rural lifestyles. The North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner administers the program with advice of the Agriculture in the Classroom Council.

Through a partnership with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture , the ND FFA Foundation offers mini grants of up to $500 to help educators bring agriculture into the classroom and strengthen agricultural literacy for youth ages 5 to 18.

If you have an idea that helps students better understand agriculture and its role in everyday life, we encourage you to apply!

The Adopt a Cow program is a free, year-long experience for your classroom. After pairing you with a calf from a dairy farm in the United States, you’ll receive progress about her growth and other activities throughout the year – including photos, video updates, activity sheets, suggested lessons that follow Common CORE standards, and even opportunities to write letters to your calf!

We’re grateful for the NDFB ’s continued generosity in supporting Ag in the Classroom and their outstanding contributions to the North Dakota State Fair! Their wheat, pork, dairy, and honey Exhibit Farm displays were a highlight, giving fairgoers some fun trivia and hands-on learning about these important agricultural topics. Thank you for helping make ag education exciting and memorable for everyone!

The North American Bison are took the lead at the ND State Fair! Those who stopped by the Pride of Dakota culinary experience got to taste Kevin’s mouthwatering bison brisket and discover the culinary magic behind every bite.

Kids, rolled up their sleeves to join the hands-on activities to learn how healthy soil keeps our planet and bison thriving. Do you know the difference between Bison and Buffalo? Those who attended Kevin’s session do!

Dr. Stansbery was a huge hit with the students today as they discovered what it takes to be a veterinarian! 🐾 Everyone got to pick out their livestock of choice, walk through a real examination and diagnosis, and then sign off with their professional assessment for the ā€œclient.ā€ The hands-on experience made learning fun and memorable—thanks, Dr. Stansbery, for inspiring future vets!

We hope you had the chance to check out the awesome Interactive barn provided by ABC Seamless Bismarck !

This modern barn lined with cedar in the inside, equipped with lights and air conditioing allowed the North Daktoa State Fair guests of all ages to relax by reading an agriculture book, be creative while buildign with the blocks and practicing to be a vet as they tend to their stuffed animals. Outside you could harvest vegetables from the garden and the apples from trees.

Watch for the barn at upcoming Pride of Dakota showcases in the Ag in the Classroom area!
