Thank you for the opportunity to work with your educators through the Poverty Simulation experience!
Today during our staff professional development, CREA presented a Poverty Simulation for staff from New Salem-Almont, Glen Ullin, and Center-Stanton.
The simulation gave staff an opportunity to experience, in a small way, some of the challenges and barriers that families experiencing poverty may face. It encouraged us to look beyond assumptions, recognize how everyday systems and policies can unintentionally create additional barriers, and better understand the experiences our students and families may be navigating.
Most importantly, today’s experience reminded us of the importance of responding with compassion, understanding, and support.
Thank you to CREA for providing this meaningful learning experience and to all of our staff for being willing to learn, reflect, and grow together!
Together, we can better understand our families, strengthen our schools, and remove barriers to student success.
