Monday, Aug. 17th: Murphy’s Open House (5:00-6:00pm)
Kindergarten families will have a whole-group parent meeting prior to the start of Open House from 4:40 to 5:00 p.m. in the kindergarten classrooms. For this meeting, kindergarten families are asked to enter through Door #3 on the southeast side of the school.

Thursday, Aug. 20th: School Begins (Look for a power announcement on Monday with specific details.)

📚✨ Today, Murphy was thrilled to welcome local author Melissa Ahonen!

Melissa shared her journey of becoming an author, walked students through the writing, illustration, and publication process, and even treated us to a story reading and sneak peeks of her books. Our Bulldogs were outstanding audience members—showing what it means to be responsible and respectful listeners while asking thoughtful, engaging questions.

One of the most meaningful messages Melissa shared was the importance of positive affirmations, believing in ourselves, and never giving up on our dreams.

We are so grateful to Melissa for spending time with our students and inspiring the next generation of readers, writers, and creators. Thank you for sharing your stories and talents with Murphy! 💛🐾📖

Dear Murphy Families,

Want to skip back-to-school shopping this summer while saving up to 20% compared to most major retailers? You can order a school supply kit for a limited time with all the supplies your student will need for their upcoming school year.

1. Go here before July 15 and select your child’s upcoming grade: https://shop.myimpacks.com/school/rita-murphy-elementary-bismarck-nd
2. Each kit includes everything required, with the exception of a few things, like gym shoes, backpacks, etc. Prices are comparable to Target, and cheaper than Amazon
3. Check out using a credit/debit card
4. Consider adding a donation at checkout. Impacks will match the first $5, and all funds will go to supporting our school
5. The supplies will be shipped directly to Rita Murphy Elementary, where you will be able to pick them up during open house

This is completely optional; however, if you prefer ordering online, be sure to purchase your supply kit before the deadline of July 15. Let us know if you have any questions!

Dear Bulldog Families,
Your support this year for our new school store, The Barking Lot, has been incredible! The enthusiasm and motivation to earn Bark Outs and Pawsitive Paws reached a new level, creating more opportunities for students to receive positive reinforcement and consistently display the Murphy B’s. Acknowledging the positives is an important part of our school-wide systems because we know that what we acknowledge…we get more of! Seeing students excited to make positive choices, encourage others, and work toward goals has been one of the highlights of the year.

As we begin planning for next school year, your help is greatly needed and appreciated in helping us restock the shelves of The Barking Lot. Students and teachers completed surveys to share feedback about what they enjoyed “shopping” for this year and what they would love to see added in the fall. Based on their input, we created an updated Amazon Wish List, which is linked.

Thank you for collaborating with us and joining in on the “fun” as we celebrate students through our school store! It truly warms our hearts to see the smiles on our Bulldogs as they “purchase” items with the positive reinforcements they have earned by giving their personal best.
