Our Child Nutrition Director recently presented at the school board meeting, highlighting the incredible work our team has accomplished together throughout this school year. The presentation also showcased how a future central kitchen could positively impact our department, students, and community by creating greater efficiency and increasing our ability to provide more scratch-cooked meals to students across the district, and purchase more locally grown products. We are proud of the work being done every day to feed our students.

So proud of our team! There are approximately 16,267 children under the age of 18 in Bismarck, ND, and our Child Nutrition team serves an average of over 12,622 meals each day. They are often the first ones in the building each morning, preparing meals and welcoming students as they arrive. We love what we doโ€”because we truly love our students!

Today we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day and the heart of our department โ€” Dar Wixcey!

Not only do we in Child Nutrition know how incredible she is, but all of BPS does too, as she was named BPS Secretary of the Year for 2025โ€“26. Dar is our office โ€œmom,โ€ the one who always has the answers, keeps everyone calm under pressure, and brings a steady, positive presence to everything she does.

She is truly loved by all โ€” especially her Charlie boy.

Happy Administrative Professionals Day, Dar! We are so lucky to have you.

Join us in celebrating Joan on Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day! We are proud to have her as part of our team. Joan takes great pride in her work and loves teaching others, especially our students, about nutrition.

Last year, she was inducted into the Bismarck High School Hall of Fame for both her athletic and professional accomplishments. Joan has been with BPS for 16 years, and we are grateful for the dedication and passion she brings to our students every day.

Thank you, Joan, for all that you do for our students! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ—

It is a little late, but October was Farm to School Monthโ€”and we are incredibly proud of the collaboration between Bismarck Public Schools and our local farmers who help make all of this a reality. None of it is simple; there is so much that happens behind the scenes to bring fresh, local food to our students.

Here is some information on what we accomplished this year:

We are excited to see what the next year brings!
