Thursday we hosted the annual Career Fair planned & organized by Mrs. Geiger, our wonderful counselor!
PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st graders participated in a parade. They got to dress up for the career that they would be interested in doing someday!
Our 2nd-5th graders went to presentations for the afternoon. They heard from someone in the National Guard, a Scientist in Anatomy & Cell Biology, someone from the State Historical Society, a Zoologist from the Dakota Zoo, and a Firefighter!
It was a busy, fun, and educational day for everyone!

One of our biggest blessings in the Catholic schools is seeing vocations at work. Our wonderful priests show up every week to do our school Masses and other special events such as Reconciliation and Stations of the Cross.

We are fortunate enough to have Mother Mary Joseph nearby who loves to come in and present to our classes. Today she talked about the purpose of suffering and taught us about some symbols of our faith.

Our 4th graders got to attend the Chrism Mass this morning at the Cathedral which involves priests from all over the diocese getting their sacred oils for their parishes.

What a unique gift we have here!

We gathered in our Faith Families today and assembled Blessing Bags. These are bags that get passed out and handed to people on the street who need some basic necessities likes food, water, shampoo, toothbrushes, tooth paste or deodorant. They also contain a note reminding them that they matter, that God loves them, and that we prayed for them.
This is was part of our almsgiving for the season on Lent!
For lent, we have also had the opportunity to participate in stations of the cross the last two Fridays. What a gift our priests are as we journey through this time!

Cathedral Elementary is kicking off the month of March with reading on our minds! To celebrate Dr. Suess’ birthday, you might’ve seen some teachers dressed up on Monday. The celebration continues and some classes will highlight this amazing author throughout the week!

As a school, we are also participating in the Larks’ Reading Program this month as we read our way around the baseball field & collect prizes for minutes read each week. Clark came to tell us all about it last week, and students are busy reading starting this week!

Persevere! Don’t give up! Trust in God and keep it up!

Our 3rd gaders did an excellent job of teaching us about Perseverance for our February virtue rally! They used St. Monica as an example and had bible verses & little skits to show us what perseverance looks like in an elementary school.

We also heard about the example of Britta Curl-Salemme- an alumni of Cathedral & St. Mary’s who is heading to the Olympics this year. Her Catholic faith & perseverance has gotten her to where she is and it’s great to see her example of both!

Catholic Schools Week ended in the best way possible- an all school Mass! Today we celebrated the Candlemas which coincides with the presentation of Jesus. Fr. Vetter talked about how we’re like candles & get the Light of Christ at our Baptism. Anytime we need to reignite our candles, we participate in the Sacraments & go back to Jesus!

We had our annual Know Your Faith completion after Mass. Everyone had fun & our kids truly do know a lot about their faith! It was neat to see the grade levels working together in their Faith Families!

Throughout the week teachers & students have been working hard to decorate their classroom doors.

In th comments on each photo guess which class did which door & like the photo to show us your favorite!

For today’s celebration we had mix/match patterns matched with crazy hair day. You can imagine how wacky we all looked!

Students brought in board games and puzzles to share with their classmates. We got to play and enjoy each other’s company in our classrooms!

Today, we celebrated our nation! Our dress up theme was Red, White, & Blue or our favorite sports team.

Each class made time to go to the Adoration chapel & spend quality time with Jesus- the whole reason we’re here!
Each class also got to spend some time in the gym watching a movie for either a chunk of the morning or the afternoon (depending on grade).

In the spare time we had, students (and teachers) participated in a door decorating activity. Keep your eyes peeled for those tomorrow as a couple classes are still finishing up!
