We are proud to offer the Exercise Clinic as a service to our community and a hands-on learning environment for our exercise science and clinical exercise physiology students.
The University of Mary Department of Exercise Physiology including programs in Exercise Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology located in Bismarck, ND.
The Department of Exercise Physiology at the University of Mary offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, a Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology, and a minor in Wellness. The Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science offers a 2.6, 3 and 4 year curriculum plan. A Wellness minor helps diversify students and develops skills in addressing population intervention plans.

One week ago today, our undergraduate exercise science students wrapped up their capstone research projects. This is an incredible milestone that reflects months of hard work and perseverance. We’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished in our program!

Congratulations to all of our students who presented their research last Friday at the Michael G. Parker Colloquium! 👏
We’re especially proud to share that one of our undergraduate Exercise Science student research groups earned the SGSHS Outstanding Scholarly Work Award for their project, “Comparison of Forearm Versus Upper Arm Blood Pressure at Rest and During Low, Moderate, and High Intensity Exercise.” Their faculty mentor was Dr. Jill Nustad.

We are proud to announce the winners of the 2026 Department of Exercise Physiology Outstanding Researcher Award and Servant Leadership Award!
🔬 Outstanding Researcher Award:
MacKenna Arnold-Weisser (Harvey, ND)
MacKenna will graduate this spring from our Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology program. Her research, “Barriers to Regular Physical Activity and Appropriate Interventions in Rural North Dakota Populations,” highlights important work impacting rural health across our state.
🤝 Servant Leadership Award:
Tyler Thompson (Oakes, ND)
Tyler will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She plans to continue her education in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UMary.
