Horizon Middle School Band

Two wonderful concerts with wonderful performances by our students and the best staff! Dr. Oban singing with 6th grade and jazz band and MORE cowbell that featured a special cowbell performance by Mr, Hammers, Mrs, Debertin, Mrs. Schmidt, Mr. Knodel, Dr. Oban, and Mr, Vanderpan! See comments for some video. Tonight approximately 330 students performed!! They have grown leaps and bounds this year and we are so proud of their work!! Thank you families for your time and dedication!!

🎶 Jazz Band/Show Choir tour 2026 is in the books!

This tour is always a wonderful learning experience in a variety of ways! We are so grateful for the school communities that continue to make this tour possible. It is the highlight for many of our students! We even got to end with an impromptu performance for 6th grade at the end of the day!

UND Wind Ensemble took the stage at the North Dakota Music Educators conference with many former Horizon students. These students were once 6th graders and it is a joy to see them still performing and being involved in music! 🎶

Congratulations to our Jr. High All-State participants on an outstanding performance!
🎶 Over the past two days they’ve worked incredibly hard in rehearsals to prepare some wonderful music. We are so proud of their dedication, perseverance, and the way they represented our school.

Congratulations to both our 7th and 8th grade bands for their performance at the Big Muddy Band Festival in Mandan Monday and Tuesday.

🎶 7th grade received the silver award (missing gold by 1 point!)

🎶8th grade received the gold award and a few decided to make a pedestal for it when we returned ☺️ 8th grade also received outstanding percussion section and Luke Logan and Avery Kelly received outstanding soloist.

We are proud of the work they have put in over the last weeks to polish this music and make Horizon proud!

Houle and Halverson might just go out for coffee - these 6th graders have it under control! 😄

🎺Over the past week we've had many students take the opportunity to come into the band room before school to practice together. This is what music is all about - community!

𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙀𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙧!

He received a $330 scholarship to International Music Camp, awarded by University of Mary faculty at the jazz festival. Even more impressive—he was one of only two students in the entire festival to earn this honor! 👏✨
