We wanted to share this wonderful resource with everyone. Our very own Unci Martha played an important role in its creation, traveling to North Dakota to collaborate with Standing Rock IyΓ‘pi Program over the past several years to actively contribute her knowledge, voice, and guidance throughout the process.
Congratulations, Unci Martha, and pilamaya for the time, dedication, and wisdom you shared to help create something that will benefit future generations. We are grateful for your commitment to preserving and passing on knowledge for our children, grandchildren, and all those yet to come. β€οΈππ€π€
Additional congratulations to the organizers and Elders whose dedication, knowledge, and hard work helped bring this valuable language resource to life.

Today marked the first 2026 ESSA Tribal Consultation Meeting on Education!
Superintendent Bachmeier and other NDDPI staff members had the honor of meeting with Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman, Steve Sitting Bear, and the SRST Tribal Council members at the Standing Rock Tribal Chambers in Fort Yates.
These conversations are vital as we work together to prioritize the education of Native American children across North Dakota. We look forward to continuing this important work as we meet with all ND Tribal Nations.
Thank you to Chairman Sitting Bear and the SRST Tribal Council for your partnership. π«±π»βπ«²πΌ
