UMary Mathematics & Sciences Department

HMC is ready to welcome our new students and welcome back our returning students in a couple of week!

Yesterday the UMary Math Department held their annual Math Competition. With the exception of COVID, this competition has been held every year since 2016. They started out with 55 students and 5 schools. It has grown to include 14 schools and approximately 186 high school students. The students were given Einstein tiles and as you can see, the Math and Math Ed student volunteers were getting in on the fun with the tiles.

Math & Science are ready to welcome our new students, as well as welcome back our returning students!! It's going to be a wonderful year!!

The science department at UMary has a program known as SURVE. SURVE stands for Summer Undergraduate Research Vocation Experience. The students in this program get hands on experience doing various experiments 🧪, and they get paid 💵 while doing it!! How cool is that?! The first picture is of all the students in the program and the professors in charge of the program. A big shout out to Dr. David Ronderos, Dr. Joseph Biggane, Dr. Jack Boyle and Dr. Wendy Larson! The last two pictures are students presenting posters with their findings.

Yesterday was Poster Day in the science department. As the name suggests, the students created posters based upon their research and presented them for people to observe and ask questions.
