It is wild to feel us finishing out the first three weeks of school. For the first time this week, we began to notice the children forming true relationships - learning to play not just alongside one another but beginning to play together. This is our theme for September – RELATIONSHIP, and we have been centering it in all of our explorations.
Part of our mission at Wild Oaks is to restore the relationship between children and the outdoors – and work with our relationships to each other, the animals, the plants and the weather. We’ve been lucky with weather so far, but have had ample opportunities to explore the ways we treat bugs, plants, snakes and each other. We explore the place the sun rises, what moon phase we’re in, and the season. These littles are learning– through thick and thin – how to be in right relationship to all living things.
Each month, we will share with our families more about the theme of the month. For the rest of September, ask your children about relationships– and focus on helping them grow these awarenesses while they are at home.
Here, we are learning to be friends, colleagues and earth keepers, who know how to let the wild things grow.
