Please join us in welcoming our new Americorps VISTA, Pedro San Miguel!

While Pedro recently joined our office in July, he was already an essential volunteer at the EXPO assisting with set-up and breakdown and has already taken the initiative with new ideas for our office's social media presence.

"Hi! My name is Pedro San Miguel. I am a junior majoring in Civil Engineering. My hobbies are playing video games, listening to music, and reading comics. I am the president of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc at UAB, the only multicultural, Latino-based fraternity in Alabama. I am also the fundraising chair of the Spanish and Latino Student Association."

Congratulations to all Winners of the Summer Expo! There were a few others who also tied at this Summer's Expo. Please join us in celebrating the CORD interns who placed: Dev Patel (1st Place Poster Presentation in Health Sciences), Martha Mae Smith (3rd Place Poster Presentation in Engineering), and Aksh*ta Shrivastava (3rd Place Poster Presentation in Health Sciences). The University of Alabama at Birmingham is doing a research study about how people perceive and understand the genetic counseling profession. They’re looking for people to complete a short survey and potentially participate in an interview to hear more of your thoughts.

Never heard of genetic counseling? No problem! The study is actually interested in all perspectives, including people who know nothing about the field.
