To celebrate our Pacesetters’ hard work and dedication during ACAP season, we treated them to an exciting field trip to Urban Air! Students spent the day jumping, playing, and making unforgettable memories with their peers.
On this special day, we also had the opportunity to interview some of our middle school students and capture their experiences firsthand. Their smiles, laughter, and excitement reminded us why celebrating student success is so important.
At Hayes, we believe in recognizing and rewarding our students for the effort they put into their learning every day. They worked hard, stayed focused, and gave their best, so we made sure they had the chance to have some well-deserved fun!

Birmingham City Schools welcomed author, activist, athlete, and entrepreneur Colin Kaepernick today for a special Lumi Student Showcase celebrating the creativity, research and storytelling of middle school scholars.
Students from Green Acres Middle School, Hayes K-8 School and Phillips Academy were recognized during the showcase and had the opportunity to present their work to Kaepernick, the founder and CEO of Lumi, and invited guests! ✍🏽

Hayes K-8 Summer Enrichment begins June 15th, and we are excited to welcome rising 1st–8th grade Pacesetters for a summer full of learning, engagement, and fun opportunities.
Students will enjoy exciting field trips to Urban Air and the McWane Center, daily giveaways including gift cards and books, a broadcasting class, and access to a game room featuring PS5s. Our program also includes daily math games, reading activities, and hands-on science experiments designed to keep students learning throughout the summer.

Last Friday, we celebrated our 8th Grade Pacesetters as they completed an important chapter and prepared to take the next step into high school. We are extremely proud of all they have accomplished and the young leaders they are becoming.

Last Friday, we celebrated our Kindergarten Pacesetters as they completed an important milestone and prepared to take their next step into 1st grade. We are incredibly proud of all the growth, learning, and accomplishments they have achieved throughout the school year.
