Today, our faculty and staff joined educators and employees from across Birmingham City Schools for the 2026 BCS Institute, an exciting kickoff to a brand-new school year!

From inspiring welcomes from district leadership to celebrating alongside our entire BCS family, the excitement was definitely in the building. And one thing is for sure… W.J. Christian showed up READY, ENERGIZED, and full of CHARGER PRIDE!

We’re recharged, refocused, and ready to make the 2026–2027 school year one to remember!

Today, our Charger faculty came together for a full day of professional learning and collaboration as we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year!

Our teachers spent the day sharpening their skills, sharing ideas, and planning meaningful learning experiences to help every student succeed. We are grateful for their dedication and commitment to excellence.

The countdown to an amazing school year is on. We can’t wait to welcome our Chargers back!

We’re getting our school is ready for an amazing year thanks to some incredible volunteers!

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers from Southern Company and our amazing middle school student-athletes for volunteering their time to help prepare our school for an incredible new year. From helping teachers organize classrooms and moving furniture, to tackling outdoor projects… your hard work and servant hearts made a tremendous difference.

Because of your efforts, our students and staff will return to a campus that is even more welcoming and ready for learning.

Let’s take it back to last month… Our Chargers had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Lamell J. McMorris during his book tour visit on May 12th.

Through his book, The Power to Persist: 8 Simple Habits to Build Lifelong Resilience, Dr. McMorris shares powerful life lessons, personal experiences, and words of encouragement that inspired our middle school scholars to persevere and believe in themselves.

We are grateful for the wisdom he poured into our students. Thank you, Dr. McMorris, for investing in the next generation and reminding our Chargers that they have the power to persist.
