This time next week, our very own Alana Price will take the stage of the Samford University Wright Center to compete for the coveted Miss Alabama title and the opportunity to represent our state at the Miss America Competition.

Ahead of the competition, Alana shares how the Samford community has prepared and encouraged her along the way:

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received from the Samford community throughout my journey to Miss Alabama. From professors and classmates to friends and mentors, so many people have poured into me and reminded me to lead with confidence, compassion and purpose. Samford has given me opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, and I’m honored to represent a community that values service, leadership and faith.”

Samford University’s Campus Recreation, Wellness and Athletics Complex has been recognized by the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association as one of the nation’s most outstanding collegiate recreation facilities.

Since reopening in September 2024, Seibert Hall has become a cornerstone of student life, welcoming nearly 273,000 visits and creating new opportunities for wellness, recreation and community on campus.

Seibert Hall Campus Recreation Complex Receives National Acclaim The $85 million reimagining of Seibert Hall was recognized among the nation’s most outstanding facilities by the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association.

Just days after crossing the stage at commencement, Samford graduate Shaniya Jacobs-Lanier was commissioned into the United States Air Force. 🇺🇸

A biochemistry major, Air Force ROTC cadet and future dental student at Case Western Reserve University, Shaniya says her calling to serve others is what led her to this path.

“I am passionate about serving others, and being an officer allows me to encourage growth in others as I lead them through each mission.” ❤️💙

Biochemistry Graduate Commissioned into U.S. Air Force, Prepares for Dental School When Shaniya Jacobs-Lanier crossed the stage at Samford University’s commencement ceremony this spring, she was already preparing for her next major milestone.

Today, we honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage and selflessness reflect the greatest love—laying down one’s life for others.

We remember with gratitude those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and we pray for the families and loved ones who carry their memory each day. May the Lord’s comfort, peace and nearness be especially felt today. 🇺🇸
